Game Thread - Franchise versus Milton

Game two of our series versus the Reds, Francis had some troubles last time out and is on the road where he's had difficulties this season in general, so it would be nice to see him come back with a decent game tonight. Milton's a good candidate to help our offense find a new groove on as well. Still, this is our 2005 Rockies squad away from Coors again, so don't hold me to that.

Piedra out
It would have been nice to see Piedra in the lineup again in left field, with Byrnes in center, but Hurdle felt the urge to give Mohr playing time.  Dustin must have pictures...

At least it's nice to see Spillborghs get a shot.  If we can catch lightning in a bottle and get him to continue hitting at the major league level, he could fit nicely in front of Helton in the number two spot of the order on the days he plays.

Spilly
As long as Holliday and Hawpe are out, I think he's our best corner offensively, especially as far as OBP goes. Byrnsie might have more power and overall bat, but nobody else in the lineup is going to get on as much as Ryan.

Aaron Miles walks
And comes around to score. Amazing how that works. Byrnsie gets his first big hit as a Rockie

Good to see
Captain America with an RBI double.

I didn't know
that the Captian America nickname existed outside of Oakland fandom.

And
just like that, the lead is gone.

Francis
looks to have gone back to dropping his elbow again.  His fastballs are really flattening out and he's left some mediocre pitches over the plate.  It almost looks like he's grooving them this inning (4).  When he stays up, his ball has better life, so lets see if he can make the mid-game adjustment, for his sake as well as the team's.

Couldn't
the Reds have traded Dunn or Pena before the game, so this wouldn't be happening?

We needed
Byrnes to receive a pitch to hit in his at bat.  It didn't look like Weathers wanted to mess with Eric when he could overpower a soft hitting Sullivan.  Pick your poison: would you rather have Mohr or Sullivan up in that situation?  Neither is not an option...
