bandwagon schmandwagon
Finally baseball in Denver is back. Who cares if everybody says "Oh yeah I watched every game this year." Who cares if people say "I saw this coming in April." The fact of the matter is nobody knew this team was historic. Use the words Rockies and historic in the same sentence and see if your head doesn't start feeling weird. So who cares about bandwagon or who's been here the longest. The way Denver feels about the Rockies reminds me of when I was in elementary school. I remember my first Rockies game and how the whole rocky mountain region felt about baseball and it is eerily the same as the NLCS approaches. I'm just glad baseball is back the way it was when we first got the Rockies. That first year was exciting. The first wild-card was great, but this is historic and I'm just glad people are looking at all. Let's all be Rockies fans, because it's these kind of seasons and these kinds of games that actually get people on the wagon to stay.
By the way I follow the Rockies closely every year for you who think I'm just trying to hitch a ride until the Broncos turn it around this year.
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Hey
I'll be perfectly honest. I had us pegged for just over .500 baseball this year. Good to be competitive, but not stellar. In that beginning of the season poll, I voted that we'd be in it until the road trips to SD and LA. I even told every single one of my friends to mark my words, that this year was simply the building year, and that 2008 will be the Year of the Rockie.
I've never been happier to have been proven wrong.

I said
I do think ushers should quiz every ticket holder coming in the game. "Who was BK? You don't know?...sorry your tickets are no good" Or "What position did Danny Ardoin play?" Cather "These tickets are valid, enjoy the game."

It's a different kind of atmosphere
A few co-workers decided to gang up on the Philly fan by wearing Rockies gear (not realizing he doesn't wear jerseys on game day) and talked smack. Normally I wouldn't mind (since I preferred the Rox anyway), but don't call runs points. Similar thing happened during the Yankees series. Someone said they were cheering on the Yankees, but then asked me to explain what was going on. But the look on their face was priceless when I said Hughes threw a ball. (OT: I still haven't met a real Yankees fan, but at least I've met a real fan for every other team even if Red Sox fans are bad).
Point is I normally don't mind bandwagon fans, if they admit it and try to get into the game. It's the ones who have no idea what they are talking about that drive me crazy. But I will admit, I saw one person before the playoffs wear Rox gear, now everyone is.
