ALCS Game #5: Sabathia vs Beckett

Either of these two hurlers will be predicted to win two games against the Rockies in the World Series, same as Cole Hamels, same as Brandon Webb. It's too bad we just don't ever beat good pitchers like this...

C'mon Tribe
Finish off the smelly Sox so we don't have to listen to the talking heads blather about that "miracle comeback" any damn longer.

I can't stand that talk
and the Beckett 20 game winner.

Let's go Pronk.  Get Grady home.

You think you hate Jose Mesa. Nothing beats the 1997 meltdown.

Looks like
neither Captain Cheeseburger or Lil' Joshie Beckett have brought the lights-out stuff, as to judge from their first innings. Maybe CC can settle down... as for Beckett, all I can say is, the Indians can deny it was on purpose all they want, but it was a BRILLIANT idea to have Beckett's ex singing tonight. I can hear the Beantown whiners prepping to go already...

I'm sure
She bothered him. My guess is that all it meant was Beckett had sex with his ex-girlfriend last night instead of a groupie.

Just a little joke ;)
I liked the suggestion on Deadspin that the Sox retaliate by placing stacks of Dunkin' Donuts boxeso on the field in clear sight of Sabathia.

Beckett looks..
sharper than CC Sabathia tonight. He's been talking to the Indians hitters all night. The last time was against Lofton when he nearly ignited a brawl.

He's certainly earning his salary
Theo Epstein has to feel pretty vindicated for that signing this season after it looked like a potential dud last year.

by Rox Girl on Oct 18, 2007 8:38 PM MDT up reply actions

He could've closed his eyes and..
Picked a winner from that 2003 Marlins pitching staff considering they had Beckett, Brad Penny, Dontrelle Willis and Ugueth Urbina.

Beckett BTW is throwing 75% strikes tonight.

Although Dan O'Dowd closed his eyes...
and out of all the Marlins pitchers he chose 2003 game 2 loser Mark Redman. Although Redman did finish strong for us this year.

I was reading last week's Sports Illustrated, the one with Francis on the cover, and it predicted the following for the NLCS:

-The D-Backs will be favorites whenever Brandon Webb is pitching..Although the D-Backs ranked dead last in the National League with a .250 batting average, they were tied for seventh in homeruns...Bottom line, D-Backs in seven with Webb becoming the first pitcher since Randy Johnson to win three games in a playoff series. - Nate Silver

That worked out well, don't you think? I liked Rox Girls comment about the Rockies playing for a widow and kid with cancer. Admirable causes in my opinion.

Hmmm
The Red Sox aren't dead after all. I still think Cleveland wins the series (and hope they do, since we match up better with them) but the Sawx are making the Jake sweat a bit right now...

Poor Jake..
They probably have Champagne on ice that will have to be donated to the homeless. It would have been nice to clinch at home, now they have to go back to Fenway where things might get interesting.

Those idiots...
are being charged with a felony for their actions.

I noticed however the girl on the cop car did not get arrested.

Great
Then I'll get off scot-free when I teleport home for the clincher of the World Series and have to go dance in the streets afterwards. ;)

I hate Boston
Great guns Cleveland....could have clinched at home...now you have to go play in Boston

We'll know...
something historical is about to happen if we see Jimmy Fallon and Drew Berrymore filming a documentary in the stands back in Boston.

I was hoping for
Martin Sheen in Cleveland...but that's just me.  Or maybe Drew Carey

I knew what you meant...
Did you notice that Charlie Sheen wore Drew Carrey glasses in those movies?

I haven't been very impressed with Grady Sizemore tonight. He doesn't cover much ground. That triple bounced off his glove and he had a ball later in the game go right over his head, and it didn't even make it to the warning track.

Great
Now we get to hear about 2004 endlessly for the next few days. Hopefully Carmona beats down Schilling in Boston and rubs it in the Sox fans' faces... that's the plan, Tribe? Right?

You have to admit
Cleveland wasted a huge opportunity by not winning on their home turf. C.C. is supposed to be as good as Beckett...

Just sayin'.

(I'm rooting for a Rox/Sox World Series.I want the world to notice when the Rox dominate the AL.)
