The Rockies have signed Steve Finley to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Finley will compete with Cory Sullivan, Ryan Spilborghs and Alexis Gomez for a bench spot.
This signing seems rather pointless, given the depth of major league-ready outfielders already in camp. Although, this is just a minor league deal and there is little risk involved.
Do Hurdle and O'Dowd really consider Finley an upgrade over the Gomez/Spilborghs/Sullivan group?
