Spring Training Update
My first trip to Tucson is winding down. Here are some notes from base camp...
- Our first game was in Scottsdale on Friday against the Giants. Any of you out there that have an extra 1.5 million dollars I suggest living here. They make the landscape not look like such a wasteland. BK and the B team got smoked against SF's starting lineup. Sitting in a sea of Orange was a bit unnerving for us in purple pinstripes but we repped well nonetheless. Before the game I asked Willy T if he would steal 100 bases this year, he was very non-committal..but he didn't say no. Peter Gammons was in the stands. We had a five minute conversation about our chances this year. When asked if we would contend he was very non-committal but he didn't say no. 100 degrees today.
- The bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich from Dunkin Dough nuts is a gift of the gods. Today was about revenge for the Rox against the Giants B team plus Roberts/Wynn. Cook was rolling and Hawpe and Atkins crushed. Some of the Giants
fans that threatened us in Scottsdale left sheepishly in the 7th, vengeance! Talked to Keith Blyer about our chances this year. He says "I'm not drinking the KoolAid like I did last year but we'll see how the 2007 starters do today" well if today was any indication I am the Koolaid man OH YEAH. Players were really good about signing except Todd, he is my whale. While I didn't get him to sign I did tell him that we at purplerow are happy to have him be a Rockie. He said he appreciated that.
3) White Sox and Padres Sunday before an 8 hour car ride home. My goal is to fight Ozzie Guillen. We have alot to be hopeful for this year, here's to Kim's immenant departure and the Rox in '07.
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Thanx for reppin' the Row to Helton
As far as my own drinking the Kool-Aid, I'm still holding out for Rodrigo. I figure that whatever monstrosity begins the season as our #5, it can be replaced in plenty of time for us. Lopez, on the other hand, will be a bit harder to disentangle from if he's as bad as he's been of late. The loaded offense will carry Cook and Francis to at least 15 wins apiece. Hirsh can probably get close to that, too. Left handed relievers are still an issue, but I'm hoping we don't get beat too often there. That leaves Rodrigo, and his 180 innings as the pivot for the season. If he joins Franchise and Cook via luck or skill in the 15 win circle, than I think we're solid.
Oh, and we can't have Tulo or Iannetta break down. That would also bode very ill, as pretty much every other position we'd have a reasonable replacement on offense. Anyway, I'll get into this more as the season gets closer. Two weeks, woohoo!
