Spring Game #3: Rockies vs Angels

Josh Fogg, Byung Hyun Kim and company take on John Lackey and friends.

The Rockies and Fox Rocky Mountain really are ahead of the curve in providing video feeds of their Spring games. Looking through the schedule I noticed that out of the Cactus League teams, they seem to have as many or more broadcasts as anybody. Anyway, I'm grateful for that.

Of course, MLB.TV lied again
about this game being covered. At least it's the home announcers for radio.

thank god i paid for mlb.tv premium
listening to jeff and jack is much better than listening to drew and goerge.

At least they
use 'ana' in the link. I was trying 'laa' until I realized that the Angels website still uses 'anaheim' in their web address.

that was my trouble to
I thought I was getting something else wrong for a little while.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 1:39 PM MST up reply actions

Sounded like a nice play by Taveras to double
off Willits at second. His throw to the plate earlier was off line, however.

Todd Helton with inflammation in his knee
He's listed as day to day, according to J & J.

does anyone know
why Roxhead hasnt updated since the jennings trade?

by jaxROXdisciple on Mar 3, 2007 1:56 PM MST reply actions

I don't.
I've wondered myself. He hasn't posted here either. The deal wasn't that bad...

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 1:58 PM MST up reply actions

no kidding
i hope roxhead is back before the season starts.

by jaxROXdisciple on Mar 3, 2007 2:00 PM MST up reply actions

Taveras
Steals second on a pitch out. Mike Napoli is getting exposed by the Rockies today, even Yorvit stole one on him.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 1:57 PM MST reply actions

Woohoo! Garrett!
Drives in Taveras with a shallow single.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 1:59 PM MST reply actions

Does anybody get the impression
that the Rockies are favoring two of the least effective LHP's they have in camp in Martin and Affeldt? I think I'd rather have Gallo than Martin, and I'd rather have Oscar Rivera than either make the final roster.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 2:27 PM MST reply actions

Tom Martin sucks.
I'd rather have Denny Bautista or Josh Newman in the pen.
R you in?

by malakian on Mar 3, 2007 2:31 PM MST up reply actions

affedt wouldnt be too bad
if hed stick with his curveball. when he goes to something else he gets beat up. im pretty sure gallo will make the roster hes been a solid reliever for the stros.

by jaxROXdisciple on Mar 3, 2007 2:32 PM MST reply actions

I hope so on Gallo,
I think he's a much better option than Martin, who just can't seem to keep his pitches down when it matters.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 2:36 PM MST up reply actions

What makes you say that...
Lefties have hit .292 off Gallo over the last three seasons (and .368 in Triple-A last season).   He's not very good.
R you in?

by malakian on Mar 3, 2007 2:40 PM MST up reply actions

You're right. He's worse than Martin
I don't know why I was thinking he was an okay LOOGY, was I thinking Keppel? I should look up stats before I write anything else at any rate...

Alright then, I'm back to hoping for Rivera, who could be multifunctional as a LOOGY and swing starter.

Willy T!
Stand-up double. Hopefully Kaz can bring him home to cut the deficit a little bit.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 2:35 PM MST reply actions

Rodrigo looks psycho...
I'd be scared to face him, anyway.

Haha
Best of the worst:

Helton's is pretty bad
I'm also shocked that despite the vast difference in size between Clarke and Herrera, they appear to be identical twins...

Steve Finley lined into a triple play....?
I have to admit, I laughed a little when I saw that.
Sparks of Dementia Rockies, A's, and Cards coverage by an amateur if very enthusiastic blogmistress, myself.

by Silverblood on Mar 3, 2007 3:22 PM MST reply actions

I guess the umpires assisted
One of them held up his hands as if to say "safe" or "in play" when the ball was actually caught according to the radio announcers. By the time Kaz and Atkins figured out what happened, it was already too late.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 3:30 PM MST up reply actions

This is disappointing....
Newman is getting smacked around by a bunch of Triple-A players.
R you in?

by malakian on Mar 3, 2007 3:25 PM MST reply actions

Yeah, hopefully when he's in AAA
He does better versus them. It's only the first game of the Spring for him, though. He Martin and Morillo all were a bit more rusty than some of our other pitchers have been.

Nice play by Stewart, apparently, so I hope to see that later.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 3:29 PM MST up reply actions

Jeff Salazar!
Three RBI now against Angel scrub pitchers to make it close. He's having a good start to his Spring.

by Rox Girl on Mar 3, 2007 4:21 PM MST reply actions

HMMMMMMM....GEORGE FRAZIER VS..........
Vin Scully or Jon Miller.....nothing need be said.
