Rivera?

Haven't seen anything new on Oscar Rivera... where's he headed? Are the Rox going to pay to keep him around?

Die-hard Rockies fan. On the bandwagon since 4/2/93. Not giving up my seat. EVER.

Rivera

He'll begin the season in extended spring training participating in an arm-strengthening program.
He will join the Sky Sox rotation in late April or early May.

The Rockies have until June 1st to decide whether or not Rivera is worth $1.3 million.

Why is a pitcher going to be on the inactive list? Do you mean DL or extended spring? and why Morillo?

24-man roster limit

24 is the maximum amount of players a PCL team can have on their active roster. I have 26 listed on the roster, but since Brian Lawrence will be on a rehab assignment he doesn't count against the 24. I doubt the club will go with 14 pitchers to begin the season, so one will be initially placed on either the inactive list or 7-day DL. I mention Morillo because he was the only one of the 26(other than Lawrence) who didn't make the trip to Colorado Springs yesterday. I also heard someone mention something about him being behind schedule at yesterday's game.

There's mention in today's Tulsa World

that Juan Morillo might be used in Tulsa at the start of the season with Deduno back in extended spring training.

Al in all, it's a peculiar situation for a supposed top prospect...

Top prospects bust all the time...

Morillo's lowered my expectations for what he'll eventually bring to the team so much that a seemingly backwards move like this doesn't surprise me. I definitely need to see more from him before I'll be excited about him pitching for the Rockies any time in the future.
