Scouting Report / Bio: Newman held lefthanders to a .179 average with a .487 OPS in 2006 while pitching for Tulsa. He also enjoyed a successful stint in the Arizona Fall League, holding lefthanders hitless while compiling a 0.79 ERA over 11 1/3 innings pitched. Newman isn't a power pitcher and instead relies on a deceptive, herky-jerky pitching motion to fool hitters. Newman throws an upper-80s fastball, a changeup and a sweeping slider.
Future Outlook: Major League or Triple-A Lefty-specialist.
