Scouting Report / Bio: The former light-hitting infielder was converted to a pitcher in 2006. He reinvented himself as a prospect in 2006, going 3-1 with a 3.42 ERA and racking up 35 strikeouts over 26 1/3 innings pitched between Casper and Asheville. Strop has a seemingly effortless quick-armed delivery that produces a 93-95 mph fastball with a good amount of late movement. He also throws a plus low-80s slider, but he has yet to throw it consistently for strikes. Because of his power arm, Strop drew interest from several teams prior to the 2006 Rule 5 draft and was nearly taken. His mechanics are very raw and he needs to be brought along slowly.
Future Outlook: Intriguing late-innings power reliever
