Scouting Report / Bio: After spending four seasons as a utility infielder, Ferrer was converted to a pitcher in 2006.  His first season as a pitcher was a successful one, as he posted a 1.54 ERA over 34 innings pitched. Ferrer has developed an impressive knuckleball and his success relies solely on how well he can throw the difficult pitch. Ferrer also occasionally mixes in a high-70s cut fastball and a slider.  He is the first knuckleballer to pitch in the Rockies system and has consulted with legendary knuckleballer Charlie Hough.

Future Outlook: Knuckleballers are very unique and unpredictable.   Ferrer could eventually develop into a serviceable back-of-the-rotation starter or swingman at higher levels.
