Game #61: Francis vs. Steve Trachsel

SC at Camden Chat has this to say about the O's starter tonight:

What do you say about Steve Trachsel? He's had a few really bad starts (including that last mess in Anaheim), but overall the guy has been reliable. His BB-to-K is getting disastrous and is going to slap him in the head at some point, but for now, I'll take the solid results. You can't get by walking twice as many as you strike out, though. He has 137.2 innings against Colorado in his career with decent numbers.

Welcome back to the East Coast, Rockies!

Gee, why am I not surprised that Yorvit is catching. Willy T dhing though is interesting.

Put Taylor Buchholz back in the rotation now!

That is interesting
But he's been getting some really bad breaks sometimes in center this year. I'm really not sure if we chose the lesser defender here.

I think we'll see a different DH
each of the next six games just so everyone gets a start. Baker really wants to play.

Agreed....
It will really give Hurlde a chance to give each of his starters a "day off" while keeping their bat in the lineup.

Hey Jeff
You're not supposed to do that, remember? Especially not to fat load Millar.

Okay
Clearly we're back to modus operandi: Lose the first one, win the next two. Or at least we will be if Franchise doesn't get his rear in gear. Cough, cough, I'm talking to you, Jeffrey.

It better not be Steve Trachsel. He's too old to keep on making us look this pathetic.

Nice inning
from Francis. Good to see him recover from a shaky first. Now let's get some O.

Some more hits (and even, gasp, runs) would look nice pretty soon.

scoring... not... functional...
A bunt hit by Willy T and Kaz-Mat's double so far, but everybody else has been hacktastic.

by Rox Girl on Jun 8, 2007 5:59 PM MDT reply actions

Todd's
been slumping the past couple of days. Atkins may or not be back...

by moomacher on Jun 8, 2007 6:01 PM MDT reply actions

Not helping
that we're hacking so early in the count. Three pitches to retire Holliday and Helton is not the way to knock him out of the game. Should have been four pitches for the inning, but Atkins lucks out.

by Knepster on Jun 8, 2007 6:03 PM MDT reply actions

It'll look like a screaming line drive
in the boxscore, and beating out those kind of infield softies is still what Atkins needs to jack up the ol' average. Still, that was almost a four-pitch inning... oy.

Hitters
Mostly, I think it is facing a real pitcher.  Don't worry, if he can't pitch a complete game, the O's bullpen isn't exactly the pride of the AL.
