The 2007 Scouting Report, By The Fans, For The Fans

For the fifth year in a row, I am once again asking for hardcore baseball fans to participate in the annual Scouting Report project, in which you evaluate the fielding characteristics of players on your team. If you have a few minutes, please drop by and evaluate the Rox:

Chairman of the Sub-committee to resign Kazuo Matsui

Done
Like last year there are some categories (or players) that sort of perplex me (not quite sure how to evaluate or interpret them) but that is the beauty of a hopefully large sample size (smoothing things out).

Odd thing about 'tools'
I ended up with Kaz Matsui rating very close to Tulo (Kaz rating better in speed and quickness and Tulo in throwing categories) but I don't consider them comparable fielders.

Rather than over-rating Kaz's tools I think that I perhaps underrate the tools that Tulo brings to the table.  He doesn't LOOK quick or fast but his range is very good.  He doesn't seem 'quick' or like he has amazing reflexs because he makes everything look so smooth and routine.

Oh well, I guess Rockies fans have experience with phenomenal defensive players who lack 'flash' and end up being overlooked (Larry Walker).
