Winter League Updates
Arizona Fall League:
- Shane Lindsay has made three appearances out of the bullpen for the Phoenix Desert Dogs. In his second appearance, Lindsay struck out five in three innings of work and held the Peoria Javelinas to only one hit. He could not follow up that performance with something similar. Yesterday he allowed three runs on four hits and two walks.
- David Patton started the offseason in the Hawaii Winter League but moved up after injuries befell Rockies pitchers. He put up a 2.57 ERA in six appearances over there in the Pacific. He walked seven and struck out nine. In two appearances for Phoenix, he's allowed two unearned runs in 2 1/3 innings.
- Chaz Roe's made three starts for Phoenix and hasn't put up any good lines. He's gone longer in each outing (2 IP, 3 IP, 3 2/3 IP), but he's also given up four runs, three runs, and five runs. He's walked seven and struck out nine.
- Michael McKenry's appeared in six games and has three hits in 10 at-bats.
- Chris Nelson has done a bit better as of late. I think one good thing to look at is that in his last four games he's walked five times. While he's hitting .240, he's still getting on base (.355 OBP).
- Eric Young, Jr. is hitting .364 (12 for 33) and getting on base at a .432 clip. He's stolen six bases. He has a seven-game hitting streak currently and is 11 for 25 over that stretch.
Hawaii Winter League:
- Austin Chambliss arrived in Hawaii after David Patton booked a ticket back to the States. Chambliss walked two, allowed two hits, and saw five runs score without recording an out in his Oct. 17 outing.
- Andy Graham has allowed one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings. On his way to his three saves, Graham has struck out six and walked two.
- Connor Graham is 1-0 in four games started. In his last two starts, Graham struck out a combined nine batters (five and four). His GO-AO stands at 1.50.
- Lars Davis is 7 for 32 in 10 games and has five RBI. He has 12 strikeouts and no walks.
- Darin Holcomb is 7 for 48 in 15 games.
- Mike Mitchell is 10 for 54 in 17 games and has six stolen bases.

Tad off Subject but
Christian Colonel is playing in Venezuela, and doing well. My question is what happens to players like Christian, drafted in 2003, never on 40 man and has played as high as AAA, is he a free agent, is he automaticaly invited to Rockies spring training, does he have the option of looking elsewhere, just what is a players status with this players history?
6 year dudes
I’m sure a list will show up soon enough as to who needs to be either protected by placement onto the 40-man roster or left open to the rule 5 draft. If a player is not drafted in that phase, then he can be re-signed.
Way off subject
But I believe the Rockies are force to sign Fuentes because of injuries to Reynolds and Weathers.
Here's a thought:
Trade Chris Nelson and other prospects for Brian Roberts. Roberts is consistently cranking doubles over in Camden Yards, which is a very similar ballpark to Coors, he’s stealing a lot of bases, and putting up a solid OBP.
Assuming we don’t trade Holliday (and I’m only saying that because we haven’t yet) and DO trade Atkins (because Stewart) and Helton comes back healthy
1. 2B Roberts (.290/.375/.440)
2. 1B Helton (.320/.400/.450)
3. LF Holliday (.330/.400/.600)
4. RF Hawpe (.280/.370/.530)
5. CF Spilborghs (.300/.380/.470)
6. C Iannetta (.270/.380/.470)
7. 3B Stewart (.290/.370/.530)
8. SS Tulowitzi (.310/.365/.435) (Pretty solid rebounding projection, if I do say so)
9. P Cook (.220/.240/.250) <= had to include him for the sake of being OMG BATTING PITCHER
Bench
2B/SS/3B Barmes
1B/2B/3B/LF/RF Baker
1B/2B/SS/3B Quintanilla
CF Taveras
CF Sullivan
C Torrealba
Out of the prospects to move, I say keep EY, because even if he’s not batting .320, he’s walking a metric ton, and stealing a pile of bases (87 in 128 games in Ashevale back in 2006), I figure he’ll end up being something special. Move Nelson, Wimberly, Mayora, etc. They’re not really gonna be massively impacting MLB players, and Baltimore might leap at the chance for what appears to be high-ceiling talent that is near MLB ready.
Then again, maybe trade for pitching.
