The others are: Matt Herges, Livan Hernandez, Adam Melhuse, and Scott Podsednik. Can't say I'll miss any of them. In fact, I'm going to miss Pods just a bit (but that's only because he didn't turn out to be Steve Finley, Part Deux). Fuentes is the only one who will require compensation, as he is a Type A free agent.

I'll miss Pods

I’ve had an inexplicable soft spot him for throughout 2008. But I’ll get over it, I imagine. A new year always tends to bring a new soft spot. I just have a nagging idea that we might miss Fuentes more than we imagined as 2009 wears on. Hope not.

Don't get too teary eyed yet

The RMN thinks Pods could be coming back.

I’d be okay with that. Pods was not an asset offensively, but he wasn’t given too much to bear offensively either. Plus/minus suggests last year was a successful season defensively, and without Taveras’ speed around, Pods utility will be greater. He’s not great but he’ll come cheap, and he’s one less spot to worry about.

I agree. He's a decent complement to Fowler,

Or at least a decent complement to the bench we’ve otherwise been assembling as he could provide the pinch running game tying or winning situations and a decent enough pinch bat off the bench like the Dave Roberts/Coco Crisp type of player the Red Sox are fond of.
