Three-Way Deal with Yankees?
On MLBTR they have a rumor (It's just a rumor) about a three-way deal involving the Yankees, Mariners, and us. The deal would send outfielder Hideki Matsui from the New York Yankees to the Seattle Mariners for a pitching prospect, perhaps Ryan Rowland-Smith. The Yankees would package the prospect with second baseman Robinson Cano and another young player to the Rockies for Matt Holliday. So we would be getting a prospect from the Mariners, Cano, and a prospect from the Yankees.

With or without Hughes...
I still like the idea of Robinson Cano playing half of his games at Coors Field.
That said, you’re right about Hughes – he has to be involved. I don’t want the Rockies settling for Ian Kennedy.

I'd take that, but...
Cano is rumored to be a malcontent — not sure our clubhouse needs that, and I personally think Hughes is falling into the overrated camp. I’d rather have, say, Matt Cain than Hughes (which isn’t going to happen, I know).
I don’t know a thing about Rowand-Smith.
But I haven’t been overly impressed with Hughes or Kennedy, frankly, and at this point, I don’t see either as being better than a serviceable major league pitcher, which is not enough for Holliday. We can get “serviceable” on our own.

not a chance....
putting aside whether the Rockies would go for it, why would the Mariners?
Why would they want Matsui and why would they give up a pitching prospect to get him?
