Trading Jasons - Jason Hirsh part of Cubs deal?
According to Chicago Cubs online, an XM satellite radio show mentioned that Hirsh and another Rockies player could be involved in a potential trade with the Cubs. This wouldn't make much sense unless the Cubs were eating considerably more than half of Marquis' salary for 2009 given his projected value, but Hirsh is out of minor league options and the rotation situation is already crowded for the Rockies.

Per mlbtraderumors – Steve Phillips is saying its a Viz/Marquis swap. There would have to be some cash coming back with Marquis as well – I’d imagine close to 2Mil.

Uhhh....err...umm...
Maybe they think the Viz is good?
Sounds like 1Mil in cash coming back. So it saves the Cubs 5Mil (think they overpaid for Marquis?), I imagine that it puts Marshall in the rotation and allows them to sign the slugging OF they think they need.

In the alternative
It gives them enough salary relief to put a deal together for Peavy not involving a massive prospect load?
