Spring Training Game #5

No television coverage, apparently, and MLB.com doesn't have the game as being available to subscribers either, but KOA has the game on its schedule, so it looks like people might be able to at least listen to the game today, with pre-game coverage starting at 12:30, Mountain Time.

As I mentioned in the Rockpile, Jason Hirsh starts for the Rockies today and Ben Sheets will be starting for Milwaukee.

Gameday for those who need it.

"Don't give up the ship!" - Capt. James Lawrence

It's the weirdest thing
For some reason, in my apartment building, I can't pick up any AM stations.  None of my apartment-mates can, either.  It's like there's this giant dead-zone here.  Anyone smarter than me know if there is maybe something in the building materials or something that might be affecting AM reception?

Hopefully
Hirsh has the anti-juju charm attached to his leg when Hardy comes up.
"Everyone was running up to me, saying, 'Manny! Manny!' I signed a lot of autographs and got to eat for free. It was bueno."

I had forgot that
Hardy's line drive was the blow that ended Hirsh's season.

I think a three pitch strikeout would be good payback.

Jason Hirsh chose
the wrong off season employer: the San Diego Chargers.

Time to get Hardy out.

Yep
However much I like Jason otherwise, that's a strike against him. I hate the Chargers.

Double play!
Not the garden variety kind, but I can't complain about that.

Fast inning for Sheets - 6 pitches.
"Don't give up the ship!" - Capt. James Lawrence

Hall picked off
to end the inning and (I assume) Hirsh's first outing of the spring.

by avsfan4ever33 on Mar 1, 2008 1:29 PM MST reply actions

13 pitches (if Gameday can be trusted)
2 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 2.0 IP, 0 runs. Not too bad for his first showing.

Another mistake
on the base paths for the Brewers as Bill Hall is caught in a rundown to end the inning.

Sheets with another quick inning
Time for Morales' first outing of the spring.

by avsfan4ever33 on Mar 1, 2008 1:34 PM MST reply actions

Sheets is good
but I don't think the offense is trying that hard right now. And this early in spring, they don't have to -- just see pitches, etc., without getting hurt or burning out too fast. (Spilly was apparently pulled yesterday since he said he's been pushing himself too hard this early... and there's a long time to go until the regular season starts, let alone ends).

Gameday is fairly useless for spring games.

So
Have we got a hit yet....? Heh.

Double play!
Second turned by the Rox today, the first that was of the normal variety.

How'd Reynolds' stuff look (sound,
since I don't think this is on TV?)

by Silverblood on Mar 1, 2008 2:13 PM MST up reply actions

Hard to tell
The single by Kapler sounded pretty solid, but the double play was just a tapper back to the mound and the final out was a popout caught in foul territory.
