Opening Day

Last year was luck of the draw that I got to go to Opening Day. It wasn't sold out either, and Silverblood was in New York, and so the two tickets she got were given to me and my Dad. This year I wasn't so quick and Opening Day's completely sold out. I hadn't even planned to be there, but seeing the commercials on FSN with my sign, I'm starting to wish I was going. So. Does anybody have an extra ticket, or tickets they can't use (I can pay for them!)? If not, maybe I could arrange to get the sign to someone? It should become a tradition! I would love to see it out there again, even if I can't be there.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Her sign says "Baseball is Back"
She is on one of the commercials FSN is using to promote Opening Day weekend.  She's famous.

Jamey Carroll
And Jason Hirsh signed it that day, too. It's an awesome sign, you'll be on TV.

I'm not optimistic about getting there, but I would absolutely LOVE TO if it was in any way possible!!! But if not, I would love to see my sign there.

What about..
Rockpile tickets? Those can usually be purchased same day. I almost attended opening day last year, but traffic was backed up in Eisenhauer tunnel for two hours and I ended up listening on the radio. Ahh the sweet voice of Jeff Kingery, I do have a man crush on him.
There's only one Rocktober!!

Really?
Do you think they'd hold some for opening day even?

Rockpile Tix
The Rockies always hold on to at least half the Rockpile seats for day-of-game sales. I can't swear to it, but I don't think that any of those tickets were available in the online sale. I'd call the box office and ask about them at any rate. And hey - if you can't get in, I'll be happy to take your sign with me! I'm in Lakewood, so making the exchange shouldn't be too hard to arrange!

I guess I won't know...
Until the day of...but it wouldn't be too hard to get the sign to you before the game the day of in case it doesn't work out.

I'll have to try, though, I really want to go!!

Just get there super early and camp out

Guaranteed the Rockies hold 1/2 the Rockpile tix for day of game sales. I don't think there's ever been a regular sesaon game that wasn't the case.

Does it work if you call the box office as soon as it opens, at 8? Or do you have to physically be there?

by Squeaky on Mar 24, 2008 10:32 AM MDT up reply actions

I'm almost positive you have to physically be there. And people will be there really early. My mom and I tried to get rockpile tickets for the 4th of July game a couple years ago, and when we got there, we realized there was no way were getting tickets. We ended up just getting tickets for the game the next day. We asked people in line and they had started lining up early in the morning. I imagine Opening Day will be much the same.

Game Day Rockpile tix

Have to be picked up at the box office.

Seriously, if that's the way you want to go, plan on being there by like 5:30am, considering it's Opening Day of the 2007 NL champs.

okay, thanks. We'll see. Hopefully the sign will be there if I'm not.

also...

about the sign. I guess I won't know until the day of if I can go, but maybe you can e-mail and we can touch base later in the morning so I can let you know if I have the tickets or not.

Will do

I came by to mention to you (and others) that the Rockies are still sending me emails that infer that some Opening Day tickets are still available via package deals and season tickets. If that's the case, the box office may have some seats available that morning that haven't been claimed in package deals. If you have someone going with you, it might not be a bad idea to split up and check both the box office and the Rockpile window.

I'll email you about the sign in any case!
