dating from last year. He had a great game in April, I believe it was, and ESPN, with their usual genius, declared that the Player of the Game was "Brandon Hawpe." We took it and ran with it, since they couldn't even be bothered to get it right when they were honoring him.

I just checked in on the A's/Indians game in Cleveland and noticed that they've renamed the Jake "Progressive Field." I'm not even an Indians fan and I'm pretty sure this is tantamount to heresy. Just wrong.

Well, I drive by
Mile High Stadium all the time that has some weird name on it.
I hate naming rights by the way. Wrigley, Finway, Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium have no naming rights...and there is more of a timeless connection from the fans to place. Even if that connection was to something that happened years before the fan was born.

In AAA gameday action, from the Syracuse (TOR) - Rochester (MIN) game, Rochester just got their first hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. The hit was their 9th baserunner of the game. They had already scored 3 runs.

rather than 2001. I recall hearing an interview with Arthur C. Clarke (The late, great, Arthur C. Not that Willy is playing good
but this is a terrible matchup for Spilborghs. He's too easily frozen on the inner-half, and as a guy that does his best against lefties, facing a pitcher that's murder to righties just adds to the struggle.
Maybe Pods would be better in the future, but Willy should be better, when you consider most his hits are infield singles anyway.

Torrealba has no chance to hit him. If a ball has any type of wiggle, he'll lung at it, and since Webb throws nothing close to being straight, Torrealba's ballerina swing is prominently displayed.
I get that the Dbacks are mad from last year
and want to show us up every time they can, but how about them coming into our house and completely EMBARRASSING us on opening weekend? Isn't that sufficient motivation for our guys?

My god this is pathetic...
I know Brandon Webb is a good pitcher, but the Rockies are just having a horrible time. I mean, we take the strikes, swing at the balls, and its like everybody has a date tonight they don't want to be late for.
Also, you can definitely see a difference between the Rockies and Dbacks being the DBacks pitchers for the most part aren't throwing the meatballs Francis has been tossing up there, and they also take advantage of the mistakes.
How many meatballs do you guys predict Francis tosses out his next game?

Posing a question to our 2 resident D-Bags fans...
Do you feel like you got jobbed on the Valverde trade? 40 saves is though to argue with. I know he is a total whackjob - but he could close out a game...
I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Since I'm firmly of the belief that saves are incredibly overrated,
no, I don't feel jobbed at all. Chad Qualls will be almost as good, I think, and Burke has enough talent that he was untradeable for awhile.
We definitely sold high on Valverde. We won't have as many save opportunities this year, most likely, because we'll win more than 1- and 2-run games, which also makes a good closer slightly less important.
So, no. I felt a twinge of regret when I first heard about it -- just a twinge -- but cognitively, I knew it was the right choice.
I almost feel bad. Valverde hasn't been particularly impressive for them, so far.

Back to hating life, I suppose? We are still terrible, and one good game against the Braves should not be taken as indicative as a sudden breakthrough on our part.
I'd hope for a better game tomorrow, but I am all too familiar with how it is likely to turn out.

Giants are losing.
If Dodgers lose (which they are), we'll still be even with them.
In short, everything is fine guys! I predict a career came for Tulo tomorrow.
I'm not going to panic

This might be a bit after the fact,
but would it really have been so bad for hurdle to flip morales and francis in these first two games of the series? Morales has done well and went pitch for pitch against Peavy last year, in contrast Francis has struggled. You also could have givin yorvit a rest tommorow (since he has been catching a ton of games and didn't hit) and had iannetta with francis. I know it was mentioned on here earlier but it really disgusted me that no one came out to talk to Francis in his entire outing, I really believe Iannetta would have gone out there. And why was Jeff left in for THREE two run homers? Sorry I am just frustrated right now.
