Padres guru Dex of SB Nation's own Gaslampball.com gives his take

In the latest On The Rox post, we brought in SB Nation's own Dex of Gaslampball.com so that we could (as he put it) "needle" him about "the slide." Check out his reaction to Game No. 163, the Padres "Shakespearean" collapse (his words, not mine), the changes they've made this season and whether or not he thinks Trevor Hoffman should hang 'em up. Pretty interesting stuff.

Click here to check it out.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Well then....

Slightly OT, but after reading that interview, you media folks are really playing up the Arizona vs. Colorado Rivalry angle, aren’t you?

It's kind of

being forced on us. Colorado vs Arizona plays 6 times in the first 10 games, and then 6 more times in the final 9 games. MLB saw an opportunity for a rivalry (D’Backs the only team to beat the Rockies down the stretch, NLCS foes, one state away, only non-landlocked NL West teams, etc, etc), and so they made sure to market it as such. I have a feeling that the teams will be meeting one another for Opening Days and final weekends for years to come. So I don’t really blame the media for jumping on the bandwagon.

That having been said....

....I must admit that it feels like EVERY year we start Opening Day on the road in Denver, or at least soon after. We haven’t had an Opening Day in Phoenix in something like 7 years, and it seems like our first NL West foes are always the Rockies on the road.

Did you guys notice how he called me a guru?

I didn’t ask him to do that. He just did that on his own accord.

Must be very proud, Dex.

Dex writes good stuff...

I admire you Dex, you’re probably in my top 25 favorite bloggers list. It used to be 24 before you came along.
