Game #13: Jimenez vs. Wolf

Colorado @ San Diego

The Rockies face one of the new pitchers the Padres acquired during the off season in Randy Wolf. Ubaldo Jimenez makes his third start of the season after picking up the win in April 8 contest against the Braves. He had one less walk (4) than he had in his first start of the season (5), but also struck out one less (3) than in his first start (4). So, what I'd like to see out of U-Ball tonight is for him to go seven innings (5 & 6 IP in his first two starts), fewer walks, and a good amount of K's.

Go Rockies!

As I said earlier,

give my regards to the Padres. Do us a favor and knock ‘em outta second place??

Good luck.

Haha

I love the poll question tonight. And I finally get to watch a game! Yay! Good thing, too, because so far the Rockies are 2-0 on Tuesday games. Let’s keep the trend up!

Speaking of

Whoo boy, I just went over and read their Game thread, and they’re letting us have it over the Rockpile entry this morning…

Who do people think they are?
Its not like we sit here and critisize and make fun of them all day long. Gosh.
Geez, someone needs to pull the stick out already
Stop taking yourselves so seriously, Purple Row.
High and mighty in the high altitude?
From such a classy blog, I’d figure a personal attack on someone’s community entry wouldn’t be on the menu, bad joke or not…

by oo_nrb on Apr 15, 2008 7:53 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Attacked the 'Pit as well....

Because when I think classy, the first thing I think of is the Snakepit.

On a related note, I think I finally found where all the youtube and yahoo! commenters hang out.

by JBRO on Apr 15, 2008 3:01 PM MST

These guys must REALLY like making enemies….

Oh yeah

I saw that one too, I just forgot to paste it in. I mean…friendly inter-blog ribbing is cool, but I think some of the things they said were a bit too much. I suppose I have no room to speak because I did say something rather inflammatory this morning, which kind of started this whole thing, but I was more using it as a way to praise Rox Girl and Russ for the work that they do. If they feel like they need to warn me for it, then I accept that, and I will probably apologize to GLB. But still…this should be quelled before it gets any worse, and the GLB posters really don’t need to be on the offensive.

by oo_nrb on Apr 15, 2008 8:02 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

When I think classy...

I obviously think of bloggers who write about intentionally releasing disgusting bodily gases, in front of a nice girl, and directing at a group of total strangers who just so happen to root for a rival team.

Sheesh. Are they all 12 over at GLB?

This is a game thread.

This isn’t exactly on topic. Sorry, but we do have rules about game threads being for discussing the game.

Is anyone else wearing 42 tonight

besides Willy, Yorvit, and Herges?

Wow that was a bold call.

Strike 3? Slim chance at that.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:07 PM MDT   0 recs

.159 for Tulo.

Yikes. He’s doing a good job of proving the a—holes who voted for Ryan Braun right.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:08 PM MDT   0 recs

Tulo had basically the EXACT same start last year.

And I was calling WS MVP at that time.

So close.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:09 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Walk to Tulo.

Patience grasshopper.

She said, hey ramblin' boy, why don't you settle down? Denver is your kind of town, there is the gold and there ain't nobody like WE, the number one fans of the man named Tulo-witzki!

by The Lodo Magic Man on Apr 15, 2008 8:09 PM MDT   0 recs

K, Tulo being patient.

He’s been pressing, he just needs to see some pitches.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:09 PM MDT   0 recs

Wolf

is all over the place here.

by Teekalong on Apr 15, 2008 8:10 PM MDT   0 recs

Patience guys,

Please?

Todd also draws a walk.

Matty, you know what to do.

There are the boos for him.

"Don't give up the ship!" - Capt. James Lawrence

by Russ on Apr 15, 2008 8:11 PM MDT   0 recs

Haha, booing him.

How about they boo their catcher for not even catching the ball.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:11 PM MDT   0 recs

Or for committing a rules violation that would have given Matty home plate anyway.

Rule 7.06(b): The catcher, without the ball in his possession, has no right to block the pathway of the runner attempting to score.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:16 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Exactly.

If he caught the ball, Matt would have been called out. It’s so obvious that blue saw the ball go out of his glove and called the safe.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:17 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

I have to say...

that the Pads’ radio broadcast team is probably the best I’ve heard besides Jeff and Jack. They’re entertaining to listen to, but at the same time they really let the action on the field do the talking instead of trying to be the story.

And they’ve only got two things wrong so far—they called Tulo the ‘07 ROY and the ‘07 MVP. I like them for that.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:11 PM MDT   0 recs

I say that

and then they go and make a crack about Matty not having touched the plate yet.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:11 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeesh.

Matty. TsK, tsK.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:12 PM MDT   0 recs

Sometimes...

I wish he wasn’t so aggressive at the plate. First 2 pitches were balls. Could’ve been looking at a 2-0 count.

by TehChamp on Apr 15, 2008 8:14 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

At least he doesnt have streaks where he is patient then aggressive.

Nothing makes me more mad than watching Todd go after first pitch, not his thing.

Matty though….I expect it.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:15 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Don't know

how Holliday missed that one.

Grr

In play, (outs) is one of the worst things to see on a computer screen.

by oo_nrb on Apr 15, 2008 8:14 PM MDT   0 recs

Well, the good news

is that Wolf already has 24 pitches on him through 1 inning.

by oo_nrb on Apr 15, 2008 8:15 PM MDT   0 recs

He just wants to make UBall look good.

Because UBall hates low pitch count innings.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:15 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Come on Uball.

that ball just bounced high and away.

call there.

by Charlie77 on Apr 15, 2008 8:18 PM MDT   0 recs

Rockies leave two runners on and fail to score, Padres get a single and 2 WPs.

You know—just the usual.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:19 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Yorvit!

gotta block that!!

She said, hey ramblin' boy, why don't you settle down? Denver is your kind of town, there is the gold and there ain't nobody like WE, the number one fans of the man named Tulo-witzki!

by The Lodo Magic Man on Apr 15, 2008 8:19 PM MDT   0 recs

Lazy Yorvie.

Runner on 3rd, no outs.

Yorvie has gotta go tell UBall that the ER is on the catcher.

by roxintober on Apr 15, 2008 8:19 PM MDT   0 recs

They both were difficult but

I think I’m going to go the other way on this. I thought Yorvit should have gone down and tried to get his chest over the first one, but I thought he made a good effort on the second one and it just got away. Either way, a runner is standing on third, and U-Ball needs to try and get the ball over in the air.

by David OhNo on Apr 15, 2008 8:22 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

I guess.

First was a wicked hop that he was in front of but hit his shinguard. Second was a 5-hole that Y was just slow, IMO. Regardless…two things we can agree on: both were terrible pitches that Y failed save—and neither one matters, as no run scores.

by Teekalong on Apr 15, 2008 8:24 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

That's what DavidOhno and I were talking about last week..

Yorvit is just not good at blocking the plate.

There's only one Rocktober!!

by Charlie77 on Apr 15, 2008 8:20 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Laziness

Saw it last year, and I’ve seen it this year, Yorvit just gets lazy trying to block pitches at time.

by TehChamp on Apr 15, 2008 8:22 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Torrealba...

Come on, you gotta find a way to block these

by TehChamp on Apr 15, 2008 8:19 PM MDT   0 recs

Nicely done, U-ball.

Gotten two slick outs with the runner at third.

One more, my friend. Wriggle your way out of this.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 15, 2008 8:22 PM MDT   0 recs

And he did!

WOOT! Way to go, U-Ball!

Very nice pitching. Nasty slider to Iguchi, jammed Gonzalez nicely and then a weak grounder to short. Very nice.

w00t!

I didn’t think we’d get out of that with no runs scored. Awesome stuff, guys!

two of those balls could have been trouble. He still needs to reel it in a bit.
