Around SBN: My First Fight: Diego Sanchez

Wednesday Rockpile:

My apologies for the delays in posting today. I guess after our silent night in San Diego, it would make sense to have a silent morning on the Row. Anyway, I was at a different shutout last night here in Asheville, one with a more positive result for the team I was rooting for, so I'll probably spend a bit more time on the Pebble Report today than I will on reliving not hitting against the guy who's living in Slash's old pad.

I'm not sure if there's much more to talk about today, anyway. I mean, we could debate whether JP Ricciardi is a worst GM than Dan O'Dowd, but it looks like Dan got a pretty cushy draw there and JP's "win" should be secure.

Well, hmm

Probably a good thing I missed that one. At least I had fun at the Mets game. Since it was Jackie Robinson Day, they had his widow, Rachel, there to speak, which was actually pretty cool, and I enjoyed being at a baseball game again. (Although it was kind of frigid on an April night at Shea, so I spent the last half of the game bundled in an extra-large Mets jacket. This does not mean I was one of them… I kept kind of silently rooting for the Mets to screw up, since it was amusing to watch the reactions. This did not happen, however).

Also:

Annoying Red Sox fan: “Rockies suck! Who do they have? The Sox have Ortiz and Ramirez!”

Me: “Ortiz? He’s batting .091 this year or something. Ramirez? Sure, I’ll give you that one. But what do you mean, who do we have? Ever heard of a guy named Matt Holliday?”

Sox fan: “Holliday can’t hit.”

Me: “Are you crazy? Have you even watched a game recently? Holliday’s OBP is close to .400, his SLG was up at .600, he hit .340 last year, he’ll hit over 30 homers and drive in well north of 100, he’s got the best hitting mechanics and work ethic imaginable, and he’s even improved on his fielding. He’s amazing.”

While this sounds as if it could easily have happened, it actually didn’t. That was a dream I had last night. I fear, I fear, I fear for my subconscious.

Just make it stop.

Moral of the story is...

Arguing with a Red Sox fan is like arguing with a crazy person.

There's only one Rocktober!!

Sad thing was

the Red Sox fan in this dream was an actual Red Sox fan that I know (and yes, is that annoying).

Just make it stop.

I had a dream

that the Rockies didn’t nearly suffer a no-hitter at the hands of Randy Wolf. Too good to be true, of course.

I actually spent a late night evening/early morning several years ago at a breakfast place listening to Randy’s ex girlfriend (who I barely knew) bare her soul about their relationship to me. Strange stuff. She was really crushed by the breakup, so much so that she was dating an NFL QB largely just to get back at him. Its a different world…

Dated both an MLB pitcher and an NFL quarterback?

She must be a knockout. Hell, even the players’ wives I see at AAA games here are usually very good-looking.

I won't lie

I live in LA, and she stands out here. Its fair to say she’s well aware of that fact too.
