Matt's going to Korea!!!

So yeah, that about says it all.  No, I'll tell you right now, this has very little to do with the Rockies at all, outside of the handle being MattTheRock.  Just wanted to say that we'll now have representation on three continents.  So that means we've just got to get to the other four and the world domination of Rockies fans and occasional bloggers will be complete!

So I'm headed over to teach English for a year, which means no awesome videos from Spring Training next year, but there should be tons of excuses to post semi-related thoughts from Korea here...

Anyways, I'm putting out an open invitation for anyone up and about... I'm headed to at least the game here on Wednesday against the Cubs.  I know I'm breaking a cardinal rule of mine (no games against the Cubs, too much hatred) but I really don't have much choice here.  Anyway, if you're going to be at the game, shoot me a quickie email and I'll pass on some contact info.  Or just look for me in the Rockpile with a bunch of other rowdy peoples...

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

When do you head out?

You’re a more adventurous soul than I, going so far way. Even if only for a year. Wish you all the best in your journey. Post when you can!

About a week

This is happening so incredibly fast, which is pretty cool.

PHIL'S GOING TO THE GALAPOGOS!!

‘Tis true. But not until the summer.

Sorry Matt, couldn’t resist. Anyway, have a great time. I assume you’ll be in Seoul?

A suburb, yeah

Ansan. It’s about a 20 min train ride from downtown Seoul, so yep.

I've got job listings!!!

Seriously, I’ve got job listings for there. Wasn’t anything that matched up with the ol’ skill set.

You will love it

I lived in Korea for 2 years (87-89) and had a ball. The people are wonderful. I was an Army wife, but I taught some ESL to a group of bankers who I called my “Kuppies” (Korean Yuppies). They had all had English in school, but they really wanted to talk to a native speaker. While I was there I met up with my cousin I hadn’t seen in decades. Small world.

With the internet now, you can feel like you are at home, even far away. And you can keep us with the Rockies, which of course is a main priority.

Good Luck

in Korea. I had a friend that looked into going and teaching there as well. It should be a very unique experience.

Oh, and I guess you have a real good excuse for missing our life draft next year!

What am going to do with all these "Jeff Baker for 2nd" bumper stickers?

Yeah no kidding.

Although the way my team’s looking, not sure if that’s a bad thing…
