Overflow: We Do It Again Vs. Dodgers

So, Russ asked me/someone to open a FanPost for the extra once the main thread hit 400, and since we're at 440, it's time to move over. Hopefully that will give us some new mojo, as we are clearly showing every sign of being in for it again. Russ has to get up in 2 hours, and since I am exhausted but don't know what's best for me, here I am doing it again. Bring your charming personages to these new premises.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

If nothing else,

these agonizingly slow West Coast games force the a—holes at the Eastern Sports Programming Network to stay up WAAAY past their bedtimes.

Hell, we did this around...

Nice job by the bullpen tonight keeping us in the game

Wells, Newman, Speier, Corpas, Herges, Buchholz combine for 1 run in 9 innings in relief so far

Hope I didn’t jinx anything

So just kinda curious

Why the new thread when we hit 400? I know there has to be some reason for it or else we would not be doing it.

by OutHereInPA on Apr 26, 2008 1:03 AM MDT reply actions

It slows down

SB Nation, or at least the platform. Or something. Ask Russ, he’s the one that wanted it.

Just make it stop.

Ok thanks.

Thats a bit strange but whatever. Gotta love the new technology that is more of a pain in the ass then the advantage that it is suppose to be.

Good evening Purple Row

I haven’t been able to comment on a live game thread since Thursday the 17th.

Sh*t.

That is the third comebacker Nix has hit tonight.

He is 0-for-his-last-19. WHY is he our starting second baseman?

I seemed to gather

that he wasn’t any more, but Hurdle wants to play him anyway…

Just becasue he is out of options

and we cant send him back down, why does that mean we have to play him??

Please ask

Clint Hurdle that question.

I guess this game is basically contingent

on how long Bucky can hold out.

by Silverblood on Apr 26, 2008 1:09 AM MDT reply actions

Barmes would have been

the emergency pitcher in the 22-inning affair had it, God forbid gone longer. Maybe he’ll be the guy tonight and Bucky can play second.

Wow

I barely got back from the bathroom, and that was over. I guess I can go to the 14th, but that’s it.

I think it is time for a Mark Ellis trade

How much better would you feel to have Kaz Matsui in the lineup instead of Nix? All for the want of a few million bucks.

We cant be having these

1 win out of every 6 games thing keep happening. we gotta get this turned around and play some COMPLETE BASEBALL!!!

by OutHereInPA on Apr 26, 2008 1:23 AM MDT reply actions

Well

I made it through the 10th before the wife made me come home. Got home just in time to see the loss. Some thoughts:

1. Dodger stadium still sucks
2. Jimenez is not ready. What an awful performance. You just can’t rely on a guy that is, at all times, ready to explode.
3. We had so many chances to win and didn’t come through it was ridiculous. Tulo in particular, Holliday, everyone. Hard to hit with both hands wrapped around your throat.
4. This team is incredibly mediocre. Our record is not an illusion. It reflects the quality of the team.

Something needs to change. This team reminds me of the Rockies circa 1999. Average pitching, pretty good offense, nothing special. .500 baseball.

by Teekalong on Apr 26, 2008 1:26 AM MDT reply actions

Yeah that sounds about right.

But this time last year we were saying the same thing if not worse. We still have plenty of time to turn it around. Looks like we are going to have to be one of the best second have teams in baseball again this year. I was hoping for a little more comfort room than that this time around though.

by OutHereInPA on Apr 26, 2008 1:30 AM MDT up reply actions

Agreed.

But last year was a once in a lifetime thing. We lose even one of those miracle games, and last year was just a “hope for the future” kind of thing. I don’t want to rely on another unprecedented finish. I want to rely on a team that I think is legitimately good. And I simply can’t say that after the first month of this season. And the fact that we run Redman out against Penny tomorrow doesn’t help matters. We will lose.

by Teekalong on Apr 26, 2008 1:34 AM MDT up reply actions

we're still tied with the Dodgers for 2nd place though, I think?

Both ours & Dodgers records are 10 & 13

No.

The Rockies and the Dodgers are tied for THIRD place.

The….. San Francisco Giants are ahead of you in the standings.

I’m very disappointed in you.
