Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants

Last season, the turnaround began with a sweep of the Giants at McCovey Cove. Right now, we're looking up at San Fran in the standings. I want to be looking down on them again by the weekend. Actually, as far down as possible. The bleeding has to stop here.

Go Rockies.

Yay, baseball!

I’m heading off to the ballpark in a few minutes—I’m excited. Tonight is when the offense needs to get going. Tomorrow they’ll be up against Lincecum and the weather is supposed to be colder and foggy, so it’s more likely to be a pitcher’s duel.

Okay, off to meet my friend at Willy Mays Plaza. Go Rockies!

No Zito

Not as a starter, at least. Giants moved him to the bullpen. Too bad. If the Rox hitters could get healthy against anyone, it would probably be Zito. Oh, well. Maybe we’ll get a shot at The World’s Most Expensive Relief Pitcher.

My daughter says she wants to marry Taylor Bucholz.
But I'm not sure about the beard.

It's really amazing

that the 2008 NL West has both a 6-0 starter and an 0-6 starter.

We will

take a 3-0 lead into the fifth, when Morales blows up and gives up 7 runs. We will battle it back to make it 7-6 going into the top of the ninth, load the base with no outs, followed by a strikeout and a game ending GIDP.

Thank god for baseball season.

Gotta get better

Starting tonight. I’m interested to see if Tulo is in the lineup tonight, because lets face it, if he were anyone else right now he wouldn’t be playing too much. Maybe even down in Springs.

D-backs still on a roll

I’m in Texas & have D-backs/Astros on TV. Haren has a perfect game through 4. Astros other than Berkman (lined out to RF) have barely been able to muster a loud foul. 1-0, Snakes. At this rate, they’re going to clinch by the All Star break.

But I'm not sure about the beard.

by maris61 on Apr 28, 2008 8:24 PM MDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Even though the D-Backs look unbeatable

I don’t think they will just cruise to a dvision title. I know so many people have handed it to them already, but I highly doubt that they will keep up this pace for 162 games. Don’t get me wrong, I think they will probably end up with the NL West crown again, but they won’t win 115 games. All those young players are bound to hit a bump in the road at some point. Right?.....Right?

Thank god for baseball season.

So, let's see

Likelihood of us scoring a run: Very low.
Likelihood of us holding a lead (in the far-fetched scenario that we get one) Even lower.
Likelihood of them scoring more: Good. (One run in 17 of 37 Cain starts. They’re already past that).
Silver’s Pain Tolerance Tonight: Extremely low.

Trying to gauge what would make me stick around a little longer. Hmm, good question.

The Rockies’ big free agent signees that year were Relaford and Dustan Mohr…true story. Those were O’Dowd’s key offseason acquisitions. So you knew it was going to be a long season. Desi came through with a .224-1-16 campaign in 73 games.

My 2 cents

The Rockies sat back, signed big contracts, and were patted on the back all winter long. They lost a certain “edge”. The proverbial “sophomore slump” hits Tulo, Morales, Jimenez, and Corpas

That, and their pitching sucks. Rodrigo Lopez and Josh Fogg were better then Morales and Redman

Oh, and they were a team that struggled with inconsistency to be about .500 team….....like we are now. The “Streak” was the fluke.

Yeah

I was thinking about that when I wrote it. Personally I was offended by Renck that day…I mean I could have picked out most of them.

What am going to do with all these "Jeff Baker for 2nd" bumper stickers?

I actually emailed Renck last year

to rip him after one of the Philly games for going too lightly on Hurdle’s bullpen decisions. And he was very polite in his response.

To paraphrase that new nike commercial that Holliday is in

“My suck is suckier than your suck”

I've been a fan of

some really terrible Rangers teams, and some really terrible Rockies team.

And this one….is the most pathetic I’ve ever been around. Inept all the way around. We can’t even compete against the Giants…and they SUCK

No kidding

I’m sure I could if I tried but I can’t remember rooting for a worse team right now.

Hello, Newman.

Where is Jerry Hairston, Jr. when you need him?

Every day is a Holliday!

HEY

the good news about being this sucky….lots of cheap scalper tickets available before the games at Coors Field.

I'm sure the Monforts

are delighted that the team has buried itself before one proper homestand. Wonder how ticket sales will be.

They only drew 35,000 or so against the Cubs last week

and I’d anticipate crowds between 20,000 and 25,000 most of the season. Somehow ‘classic’ games against the Mets don’t have the same cache` as the Yanks and Red Sox.

I'm not sure what is worse

being done on May 1st…..or the fact that I/we expected SO much more out of this team.

At least Coors Field at night in August is a great place to sit
