Game #3: Jimenez vs Thompson

Colorado @ St. Louis

This should be our first chance to see the alternate lineup, as Chris Iannetta will likely start the day game following two night starts by Yorvit Torrealba. After two nights of struggling from our lead-off slot, I wouldn't be surprised if Hurdle uses Scott Podsednik in place of Willy Taveras against the RHP, either.

Today

Hope this one goes a little better than the one I drove to last night. Really, other than the eighth inning and having to get home at 2:45 in the morning, I rather enjoyed by Busch Stadium experience. The fans were hospitable (I never heard a word about my Rockies hooded and cap all night), my seats were great (upper deck behind home plate - seats that are closer to the action at Busch than they are at Coors), and I enjoyed the ballpark (good hot dogs, the best out-of-town scoreboard in baseball, and a relative scarcity of lame between-innings entertainment.)

Hoping to turn it around today - if we can't hit Brad Thompson, I'm not going to be happy. The Busch Stadium scoreboard said we had a guy named 'Ubaldo Ramirez' pitching for us today. Any idea who he is? Is he any good? At any rate, can't wait to see Ubaldo Ramirez make his debut.

Staying on the sunny side of Blake Street since 1993.

Hmm...

Depending on how this goes, I might get right back on the Baker at 2nd bandwagon...

Is it just me

or does the "backup" lineup look a lot stronger than the "normal" one?

by Teekalong on Apr 3, 2008 10:55 AM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Offensively, yes

Defensively, not sure I'd rather have Spilly in cf and Baker at second.

Don't read into the lineup shifts on getaway day, yet

Particularly catcher, as the team wants both Iannetta and Torrealba comfortable with all our pitchers. As for the other switches, Hurdle's just giving our bench some PT to keep them from getting rusty. This doesn't mean Taveras and Nix have lost their starting jobs.

What's down with the Phils?

If they go to 0-3 & Nats to 4-0, the Phil. fans will be screaming for

Ankiel

by Teekalong on Apr 3, 2008 12:03 PM MDT   0 recs

Ankiel can hit

I saw him in two AAA games last year ... he was out of his league, literally. Hit two tape-measure shots & made a couple of fine plays on defense. Unless he had too many games last year to qualify this year, he's be my prediction as Rookie of the Year.

by maris61 on Apr 3, 2008 12:05 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs
