Opening Day!
I've seen a lot of people who've said they are going to the game tomorrow, so I was just wondering where everyone is. I'll be the girl with the "Baseball is Back!!!" sign and the Everday is a Holliday T-shirt. Feel free to show up and say hi - I could only afford one ticket, so I'll be alone, which is slightly retarded. But what hey. I'm in Section 144, Row 35 (I think) and seat 5 (I think). Somewhere in the general vicinity.
It should be a great time, win or lose!! Though a win would also be nice..and a few (three or four) homeruns would also be kind of cool. I would be okay with that.
Anyway, I'm planning to be there around 12:10, 12:15...I expect it will already be a madhouse!!
This can also be used as a thread to discuss the game afterwards, tomorrow afternoon.

Very cool
So, quickie story. Got a call from someone that I haven't talked to in about six months. Turns out that they had an extra ticket (probably), and I was the first person they thought of. So yeah, it's about 99% sure that I just scored a free ticket to opening day. Ah the spring... when I get absolutely, ridiculously lucky...
With that in mind, I know there's more then a couple of people headed down there. Here's what I'm thinking if people are game for it... we all meet up on the back concourse under the jumbotron before the 5th inning for a Purple Row picture section... I mean we've got this new Fanshots section, we might as well use the bleeding thing...
Anyone game?

I'm totally in!
It would be great to meet fellow denizens of the Row! So, head to back concourse after the 4th, is that what I'm understanding? I'll be there!
BTW - I'm in Section 147, row 38, seats 7&8. Anyone who likes, please stop by!

And as soon as I say that...
My tickets got taken away. So yeah. That kind of sucked, but from what I can tell, the entire day kind of blew.

I'm there!
I just need to write it down and remember it...and it's a loooong walk down from the upper deck, where I'll be. I'm not sure of my exact location, but according to my dad it's "behind home plate, slightly down the 1st base line". But I'll show up :) . I'm going to need some visual identification, though...Squeaky, make sure you have the sign :) .

Have fun!
I'm jealous for all the people that actually live in the area and can go to games. I might try to get to some games when the team is out here in SF.
On a side note, a few years ago I went to a game by myself. It was a little weird at first, but ultimately okay. A co-worker had two tickets to a Giants game that he couldn't use. I thought I'd be able to find someone to go with me, but I never did. I figured I might as well go anyway, since I basically pass by the AT&T Park (or whatever it was called at the time) after work everyday anyway, and the train station is only a couple blocks away, so I figured I could ditch out at any point if it was too weird. I had a pretty good seat, a few rows up down the third base line. I think the Giants were playing the D-backs that night, and I'm pretty sure the Giants lost. Of course I didn't have much investment in the game either way, but to me nothing beats a summer night at the ballpark, no matter the teams.

Glad you got in!
I'll stop by and say hi before the game. I think we're going to try and go in by 1.

It hurts to say this
But I truly feel ripped off by the Rockies. This team won the NL pennant last year. The Rockies charged premium prices for the ensuing home opener. In return for those prices, they offer us some military personnel marching around the field and a one minute video collage that we've pretty much already seen on FSN.
Now before anybody gets their undies in a wad, I have absolutely nothing against the military. Fine young men and women are serving our country proudly, and I truly appreciate their service. I also appreciate the fact that the Rockies want to spread the celebration around through the opening home stand. That is not a bad plan in theory.
The theory breaks down, at least IMHO, when you charge people $70 for a $42 seat, and then give them nothing but a typical fly-over for their money.
The largest crowd in Coors Field history was never in the game, even before Redman's dreadful 1st inning, because there was no pregame drama and excitement.
I feel like a sucker. Taken by charlatans who took advantage of my love for this team. Took my money and skipped town, basically. It'll be awhile before I get over this one.

Another thing
I forgot to add: On February 16, when these tickets were went on sale, there was no word from the Rockies that the Opening Day festivities would not include unveiling the pennant, etc. I'm confident that I'm not alone in believing that such a ceremony would occur on Opening Day.

ACK!
ME TOO! I spent over a hundred dollars to go to that game, and I do not have that much money. And there was NOTHING but typical stuff. I am so upset. I think it was LAME. And the giveaway? A schedule? Are you kidding?
It was NOT worth the money I spent. Not for the pregame, the festivities, or the game itself. My word for the day is "Lame".

I neglected to mention
That is was a pleasure meeting you. And the young man who joined us on the concourse. I'm sorry to be showing my inability to remember s**t, but for the life of me, and I can't remember his name. (Getting older sux) I do remember his terrific fedora, however. If you're reading this, and you are the young man in question, it really was pleasure meeting you too!

I can't even remember to finish my thought!
Ugh. Anyways - I hope you get to feeling better. Stay under the covers and have some chicken soup. It may not cure what ails you, but it will be a comfort.

Thank you. :)
It was good to meet you, as well. The guy was Behrens, and as always, it was fun to chat with you. That, at least, was a good part of the day. :)

As Squeaky said. Haven't been to a computer since then, but it was a pleasure meeting you as well.

Hey Squaky
I think I saw you. I was one of the ones with the Purple Fever Sign and the purple face paint, the other was my Girlfriend. Hard game to swallow, but the bats should come around soon enough.

ya i agree
it was very flat i have been to the last 3 opening days this was the worst. the stadium wasnt there it felt like i dont know. redman runied any momentum with his antics in the first and it was downhill from there. very disapointing loss.
also there was a fly over yes...... but it came at the beginning of the national anthem. the rockies always mess up the timing of that its so dumb. every regular season game last year that happend. its just a pet peeve. it seems like the broncos time it right every time and every other sport i see on tv does why cant the rockies? just a pet peeve
squeaky, i saw you on the first base side b4 the game i would of come to say hi but u were down a way i had to drop off some chairs and get to my side for the game. i was already late form break and i needed to relive the other guard. so sorry bout that. see ya another game im sure
