Game #6: Gonzalez vs. Morales

Arizona @ Colorado

Last April when the Rockies were usually on the verge of being swept, I'd start begging for a win in the game thread, and they usually pulled out the victory. Might as well try it again.

Just one win. That's all we're asking for today. I know it sounds like quite a bit, but it isn't. See ball, hit ball, score runs. It should be as easy as that. So, please, win today.

Wild prediction for today: Franklin Morales steps to the plate with the bases loaded and cracks a grand slam.

Go Rockies!

I am trying to decide if I'm going to watch this game

I think I'll be 'busy' at work doing orders...and studying for my government class. Which I should be doing anyway. Who doesn't want to study the establishment and free exercise clauses in place of watching the Rockies right now?

by Squeaky on Apr 6, 2008 12:23 PM MDT   0 recs

weird...

I just posted a comment, and it just vanished entirely. If I repeat myself, I apologize.

I can't decide if I'm going to watch this game. I may be 'busy' doing orders and studying for my government class. Believe it or not, I like the class, but still, studying the establishment and free exercise clauses aren't super high on my list. But with their play lately...the Rox might have dropped beneath that.

See?

Why did it just do that?!

Hmm.

I'm not SUPER happy with the lineup...I'd really prefer Baker, but Barmes had a triple, so whatever.

Extra Innings

So the Extra Innings free preview has, apparently, inadvertently pointed out one of the flaws in it. Stupid cable doesn't have enough channels to show EVERY game, apparently. The Yankees-Rays is on the channel that should be showing the Rockies game.

by Tom (RFTN) on Apr 6, 2008 1:11 PM MDT   0 recs

They'll have it once

the Yankees game ends. I blame it on NHL Center Ice sharing channels with Extra Innings.

Chris Young

feels the need to hit the ball hard EVERY time he comes to the plate. Nice play by Matty to take the hit away.

Okay...

...who's the smart guy that pulled a Freaky Friday-esque body swap between Franklin Morales and Randy Johnson?

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 6, 2008 1:54 PM MDT   0 recs

Fun to watch

When Morales is in a groove it sure is a beautiful thing to watch.

So much movement and velocity on all of his pitches that when he commands them even decently he just overmatches hitters.

by MADness on Apr 6, 2008 1:55 PM MDT   0 recs

I second this

I think even moreso than Jimenez. Though U-Ball has more burn, Morales' delivery can be mesmerizing, and I'm not sure his stuff isn't simply better anyways.

The camera angles used in most parks just don't do lefties justice when it comes to seeing the movement well.

by David OhNo on Apr 6, 2008 1:57 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

He's not quite getting the K's

but Morales' fastball is showing good, late boring life on righties and they just cannot barrel the ball today. If he could work that change a bit more down and away to righties, the K's will come in bunches.

by David OhNo on Apr 6, 2008 1:56 PM MDT   0 recs

I don't mind not getting the K's,

The weak contact's just fine. Only 36 pitches through three innings makes it less likely he wears our bullpen down any further.

by Rox Girl on Apr 6, 2008 2:01 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Tulo's 2-for-2

and hasn't hit a ball hard yet.

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 6, 2008 2:02 PM MDT   0 recs

This zone is a lot more generous than

that of the umpiring crew that we had in St. Louis. I wish umps were more consistent, that couldn't have helped Francis last night.

by Rox Girl on Apr 6, 2008 2:03 PM MDT   0 recs

I understand wanting to preserve tradition...

...but for cripes' sake, we need to start calling balls and strikes with cameras and computers, not people. It will ultimately be good for the game.

by WanderingRoxFan on Apr 6, 2008 2:06 PM MDT   0 recs

Consider:

Last night, 8th inning: Bases loaded, nobody out, zero runs.
Today, 1st inning: First and second, nobody out, zero runs.
Today, 2nd inning: First and second, one out, zero runs.

Today, 3rd inning: Nobody on, two outs, one run.

Of course...

by Tyler Boschert on Apr 6, 2008 2:08 PM MDT   0 recs
