Game #7: Glavine vs. Cook
Atlanta @ Colorado
Alright, after getting those minor concerns off my chest this morning, I feel a lot better going into our game tonight against the Braves. My Rockies may have blown MONKEY CHUNKS over the weekend, and well, last week, but I've got a feeling the 2000 pound gorilla is over the flu bug and ready to start doing some whalloping. Let's start by pounding some Braves.
Go Rockies!!

I must ask
what makes you think we even HAVE any runs in our system?

Our Rox breakout. No more lame celebrations, just baseball. I know because my dog just told me so. ;)

I certainly hope
the Rockies get sick of all those disgusting MONKEY CHUNKS everywhere and decide to inflict a little revenge.
Namingly, by having the Braves blow some MONKEY CHUNKS for a change.

I'm blowing monkey chunks
You gotta be kidding me. I can't watch the game on MLB.TV because of blackout rules, and Fox Sports South isn't carrying the game so they can show... Best Damn Pride Fighting? What the hell is that? Whatever happened to all of the Braves games being on TBS? That's a damn bang-up move there.

What time does the game start?
(We are the only people I know who eagerly want to know what time our personal torture is scheduled to be inflicted. They could have used a few people like us in the French Revolution, it would have looked good for business).

Does that have something to do with offense? Can you give us a crash course? When they throw, we're supposed to hit them into the mitts, right, or just miss them entirely?
I know I have this backwards somehow....

Well, runs are an option, but if all else fails, you could catch them unawares in a dark hallway on their way from the locker room.
Either way, bats can be involved.

Prospect question...
Atlanta's Jordan Schaeffer or Colorado's Dexter Fowler? Which prospect Centerfielder do you think will end up being a better Major League player?
There's only one Rocktober!!
by Charlie77 on Apr 7, 2008 6:29 PM MDT 0 recs
Schaefer
I'm taking the disclaimer that I'll know more after seeing Dexter Fowler this week, but at this point, I think Schaefer gets more of the nod at this point. His power is more present, and I don't like that Fowler has not packed on much weight in his three years with the organization. Both have good patience and are suppose to be ballhawks, but Fowler's arm is said to be no more than average.
I think Fowler's ceiling is higher because of his speed and the possibilities within his frame, but sometimes guys just don't fill out and add the power everyone projects.
It's a good question and I don't think there's a wrong answer. Neither, however, is in the class of Rasmus-Maybin...yet.

I know this is late
but why did Jim just say Escobar can flat out fly? He's never been a big base stealer, or steal attempter, his ratio isn't good, and less bias scouting reports have never praised his speed.
I hate when announcers spread baseball stereotypes...hmm, he's latin, he plays infield, he must be fast...

My paternal grandfather grew up in St. Louis.
He was a lifelong Browns fan and kept following them after they moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles.
Until they started the 1982 season 0-21. Never again did he even seek out an O's box score.
I hope that doesn't happen to us.
