Rockies send Redman to Triple-A
In order to make room for Greg Reynolds, the Rockies "optioned" Redman to the Springs.

That was
likely due to my editing of it. I need to change it to reflect the updated article.

You might want to replace t the word "optioned" as well,
Since Redman’s options were spent elsewhere long ago. I don’t really care, I knew what you meant, but some people get technical.

And I might want to make post titles without an extra "t" floating out there
I must make better use of that preview button.

Or just
put quotation marks around it. Not my words.

Yeah, teaches me to actually click on the link
I don’t mind it here, we’re just a blog, but I expect the pros to do better.

although, that's the way everybody's saying it.
Which teaches me to not jump to conclusions about a rule that I know I can’t ever figure out. Apparently he must actually have an option left.

He's long past "options"
he has at least 5 years service time and can refuse the minor league assignment if he wants.
Anyone seen Jeff Baker? Has he called in?

couple of thoughts here
We all saw this one coming. But the fact that he was “optioned” to AAA and not DFA is interesting. DFA gives a team 10 days to trade, release, send down etc. But the Rockies just sent Redman down. I assume Redman has enough playing time to not accept the the assignment and become a FA. Which if there was any demand at all for Redman, the Rockies would have DFA’d him as they worked out a trade.
Second thought: That leaves the Rockies with out a left in the pen (well Fuentes, but he’s the closer). I realize that going sans a LOGGY is sorta the in thing, but it makes me nervous. Bowie is a ways away from returning and is just now throwing. I wonder if this no LOGGY situation will be an issue. (I mean besides the fact every time a big time left handed hitter gets a big hit in the late innings, and I’ll point out in the game thread that we could have used a LOGGY in that situation)

Yeah, he's got the right to refuse it,
But I doubt he’ll find another MLB team to catch on with the way he’s been throwing. He’s got to weigh where he’s most likely to see some pitching time later in the season after a AAA assignment, and it might not be the Rockies.

I wonder if
Redman has an “out” clause in his contract that he can sign with another team if he’s not on a major league roster? I’d Assume so….
Mark Redman was a great college pitcher for Oklahoma. Him and Russ Ortiz, were a great combo when the Sooners won the championship in 1994
