Game #39: Francis vs. Johnson
Colorado @ Arizona
RJ takes the mound after Sunday's weather conditions had the D'Backs move his start to after the off day. Time for Francis to get a win.
Go Rockies!

Silverblood's Fun Fact O' The Day:
Last year, we faced Randy Johnson on May 15, except it was at home, not in the Snake Bank. Jason Hirsh was pitching against him and gave up 3 runs in 8 innings. We got shut out, and lost 3-0 to drop our record to 16-23. In other words, we need a win tonight, but we will then still be 2 wins and 4 losses away from turnaround time. Right? I will gladly sacrifice a few losses against the Twins if we get all three of them against the Slytherins. Well, not gladly, but you know what I mean.

I should be sure that is clear
if we get all three wins against Randy and the Johnsons.

Baker really needs to show up sometime.
Since about two weeks into 2006, he’s been pretty much dead weight that the team drags around with it from place to place. I hope he breaks out of it and comes up with something big tonight.

Yeah
I’m pretty sure that September ‘06 had us thinking he was the second coming of Dante Bichette, but ever since then, he’s failed to justify the offensive hype. He’s a great, funny guy, and he has a great work ethic as evidenced by his hard work to learn 2B, but the bat hasn’t been there for quite a while.

Since his three hit game against the Dodgers last April,
He’s batting under .200 with an OPS well under .600. That’s the same sort of performance that had us rightfully up in arms over carrying Steve Finley or John Mabry. Baker’s become our new bench vacuum, unfortunately.
I just wish there was an easy way of getting rid of the likable guys that aren’t performing. And I really really hope I anti-jinx him tonight by bringing up how much of an out machine he’s been.

Yea
I think Helton is sitting because he is 10-42 against Johnson (.238) with 9 Strikeouts

Torrealba again.....
I guess Hurdle was serious when he said that Yorvit is the starter.
by DenverBears on May 13, 2008 7:27 PM MDT 0 recs
Do we seriously
expect him to ever get the picture that starting Iannetta is a good thing? Ever?
As long as Iannetta starts against Webb, and not Yorvit. We will need all the runs we can get that game, and Webb just murders Yorvit.

I feel bad for CDI
He plays very well, is recovering from a terrible first year, and has been one of our most productive hitters. And he still can’t force the issue due to Hurdle’s ironclad Yorvielove.

Francis lost a bet or something—its like he’s not even trying. I mean, its meatball city up there. Slow, relatively straight belt high pitches just waiting to be smacked.
by Teekalong on May 13, 2008 8:03 PM MDT 0 recs
So, what's the betting
we come out hacking, since our offensive theory is to be “aggressive! Get those runs back!”
