by DbacksSkins on May 13, 2008 9:52 PM MDT up reply actions

RBIs aren't really reflective of anything.

They’re more reflective of the guys in front of you in the order. Willy T usually leads off, right? So he’s not gonna get much in the way of RBI opportunities.

Also, Reynolds’ RBIs mostly came during the first 2-3 weeks of the season when he was ON FIRE.

Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.

by DbacksSkins on May 13, 2008 9:54 PM MDT up reply actions

I disagree

look at Willy T tonight. 3 left on base on front of him. his OPS is terrible as well.

by moomacher on May 13, 2008 9:55 PM MDT up reply actions

Well, 3 LOBs or 3 RLISP?

See, OPS or even OPS+ is a much better measure of a hitter’s ability than RBIs.

I don’t think getting rid of Atkins is the answer, thankfully the announcers support my thoughts. And where is Tulo? I mean, I know he is hurt, but haven’t seen him around the team much. I admit I am so jealous of the Dbacks since they have Bob Melvin at the helm. Say what you want, but we would have a better record if he was here. I love how most people on the Rockies official site board say nothing is Hurdle’s fault.

Speaking for myself,

I was actually posting on both boards, and I find it fun to read both points of view. Plus, I can pick up and save some angst and use it when the DBacks play the way they did in Chicago, so it’s helpful to me!

I started reading Purple Row last year during the playoffs—I think because you came over to the “Pit—and sorta feel now like I know some of you. And I like having a rivalry that doesn’t mean nasty attitudes and rude posts. I’ve followed the Rockies since the beginning of their existence because we used to live in CO and were excited that finally there was a team there! And then when we lived in AZ, the DBacks started up and they became my team. But the Rocks are my very close #2 team,so I like visiting with you all. I read PR most of the time, but usually only post when they play the DBacks.

Nope.

No schadenfreude here.

Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.

Yeah

Save it for those who deserve it. Say, the Padres.

Now you’re talking!

You have no idea....

Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.

by DbacksSkins on May 13, 2008 11:19 PM MDT up reply actions

Are you kidding? We get our own misery—like last week. Or, maybe last season, say in the post season.

It's like living with a six-year old.

by 4 Corners Fan on May 13, 2008 11:16 PM MDT up reply actions

Which is exactly why

you’d be enjoying it now? ;) Just kidding, honestly. I know you guys are good people and fun to have here.

I dunno. Trauma has done strange things to my poor battered brain. Remember: Don’t take Silverblood seriously.

We know, we know.

Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.

by DbacksSkins on May 13, 2008 11:38 PM MDT up reply actions

Periodically I have to re-state this

Because some newbie makes the mistake of doing exactly this and gets shirty with me.

We're all going to die!

Shirty?

Ooh! Good SAT vocab!!

Yeah.

Also, as a Tucsonan, the Rockies have had ST here since before the Dbacks existed, so I’ve never disliked them.

You see the thing is...

I knew there was a reason you and I have gotten along so well here. You apparently have my same sick sense of humor. I’m having trouble posting this because I’m laughing so hard at your piracy! Absolutely perfect! Good job.

I think I will watch the next two games on tv...

and also stab my eyes out with a spork. Hurdle will probably wait until Sunday’s game to let Iannetta have a start, which will lead me to bang my head repeatedly against a wall, followed by the manager speech courtesy of free7694 Then as more punishment, I will go to the whole Twins series at Coors. Now granted, the Twins are my second favorite team in baseball so I guess it isn’t entirely terrible. But of course I will remain dumbly, numbly loyal and root for the Rockies.

The Twins

are one of my “back up” teams. I usually pick one that is doing well when the Rockies are out of things (usually near Memorial Day) I like this Twins team. I might even wear my Maur fake side burns.

is Chicago.

No! The good Chicago. The AL one.

Plus the Nats. (Who suck)

what about 2004?

Well the ChiSox, right now,

are more like my AL team. I used to root for the BoSox as well, (since I lived outside Boston for 5 years) but now I can’t stand ‘em.

I also have Baltimore as a backup

But they’re usually out of it before the Rockies.

For the Record

my other back up teams are:
The Seattle Mariners
The Texas Rangers
Kansas City Royal
and the St. Louis Cardinals

Wow, I pick the good ones!

I guess I should root for the twinkies...

but I worry I will become used to their good playing and once they leave, I will be back to reality with Rockies version 08’, which will be quite the shock to my system. It’s also hard to root against my fav. Rockie, Everyday Atty/Fankles. Eh maybe I could just root for the Twinkies and Atty, less likely to have a rockies related breakdown that way.

I have always liked the Twins, they were my grandpa’s (who introduced me to baseball and the Rockies as a youngster) team before the Rockies. I follow them pretty closely, like a lot of their young players and their team now. I was also a big Puckett fan and watched Santana in his early days..it’s still weird not to see him there. Other backup teams include Braves, A’s, Marlins etc. I also gravitate toward teams where players I like are, even rooted for the dbacks a little when Gonzo was there.

I became a Twins fan

2 years ago when I was doing several jobs in the Minneapolis area. Got into them during that run to win their division. Love the twin cities, love the people, love Joe Maur, love Justin Morneu, love Neshack, loved the trash bags, in the crappiest stadium.

If i had to live some where else besides Denver, I’d pick Minneapolis…..

yes, I wasn’ there Dec-March

pain stimulate the same part of the brain that joy does?

Just think of the Rockies as fun….I know it takes some imagination
