We have played the fewest home games in the majors – 10 – by far. I think the lowest I could find for any other team was 14. The Cardinals have played 18 home games. I really think Coors is going to help the team.

I follow the Mets
because they’re the one New York baseball team I don’t hate, and I go to their games as a poor replacement for home. I even like one or two of their players. But I always laugh whenever they screw up, since Mets fans tend to think the sky is falling on everything. (Evidence: Someone wanted Randolph fired due to ONE CLIFF FLOYD AT-BAT).

It's a no-win situation
If he leaves Francis in (who’s thrown 100 pitches) and the worst happens (base clearing double or something), a lot of people will be complaining that he should have made a switch. But if Speier gives up something, everyone will say he should have left Francis in. Given Francis’ pitch count, I’m not sure it’s the wrong move.

was good up until the end there, but he was throwing too many pitches. He needed to be more efficient earlier in the game, and maybe he would have been able to get through 6 and the bullpen would have had a fresh start in the 7th.
But the way things are going for this team, it wouldn’t have made any difference.

All wins count the same, and all losses count the same. Therefore, it does not matter if you are ahead by one run or ahead by ten runs, or if you are behind by one run or behind by ten runs. Therefore, use your best reliever only when he has an opportunity to obtain the most overblown statistic in baseball (see “Save” in glossary), and use whatever reliever suits your fancy at all other times.
