lineup today. I like that Iannetta is playing, thank god. No doubt it is much too much to hope he gets a few starts in a row. He moves way down in the batting order, which is also good. HurdleLogic, however, cannot help himself Baker gets the start over Smith, when he could have easily played second or something if Hurdle REALLY wanted to get him in the lineup. Therefore removing a hot bat from a lineup struggling very badly. He moves Spilly to third, which seems odd, because Atkins has been struggling since he got back and I would much rather have Spilly in the cleanup spot these days.

Then again, this is the Cubs. I don’t have high hopes for the game. I just don’t. A new wave of apathy has come over from the FO after O’Dowd’s ridiculous remarks about “oh, they’ll go on a run and be FINE” without really digging at ANYONE for playing/managing horribly, and the Rockies can lose another, because why not? I mean, they’ll just go on a run when they go on a run and there you have it.

Urk….

Go Rockies!!!!

I think the Q/Herrara combo

is the best defensively, and Hurdle has been running them out there behind Cook, which is a good thing.

by PinchHitLancePainter on May 30, 2008 12:11 PM MDT   0 recs

Morale...

Seems to be an issue at most levels this season.

by ModNut on May 30, 2008 12:13 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

WHY WHY WHY

Is Smith not starting? That guy is clearly one of the best hitters we have at this point.

by roxintober on May 30, 2008 12:23 PM MDT   0 recs

he's a lefty

Lilly is a lefty, ergo, he must sit

(he’s also batting .000 in his very very small career sample against lefties in the bigs)

by moomacher on May 30, 2008 12:27 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

I hate Hurdle.

Let’s put in Baker who can’t hit just because he stands on the other side.

by roxintober on May 30, 2008 12:30 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

And it's too bad

that Baker is 1-17 against LHP. Good Hurdle, good.

are we delayed or something?

I thought the game was supposed to start at 12:20 MT.

Stewart

Hits better avg. wise, against lefties than Baker, Herrera, or Smith.

I pointed out his splits against Moyer the other day.

In fairness, Baker used to be much better against lefties than he has been this season.

Baker doubles?

I can’t believe we are hitting a soft tossing lefty today. Awesome!

Right now I'm just steeling myself for being up 10-0 in the fourth

If there is rain in the forecast...

I now suggest that each team does not get another hit until the fifth inning is over. And swing at the first pitch. Though with the Rockies, they’ll probably end up getting hits like crazy.

www.notthisday.com ....coming September 26th and 27th at the Pinnacle Event Center, Denver.

by Squeaky on May 30, 2008 1:03 PM MDT   0 recs

Well, at least Cook is pitching

And his starts are always crazy quick. I remember lat year against Padres he threw a CG with only 74 pitches, and the game lasted only 2 hours or something.

Thank god for baseball season.

by jcd823 on May 30, 2008 1:18 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

When was the last time

The Rockies scored 4 in the first inning? I could be wrong, but I think the only other time they have done that this year was against the Astros.

Thank god for baseball season.

!!!!!!

Iannetta!

Thank god for baseball season.

Iannetta.

Now this game is becoming boring in the opposite direction from what we’re used to. Always fun to watch Cook, though.

Ianneta homers

please please please let this be enough for a week of starts

by moomacher on May 30, 2008 1:27 PM MDT   0 recs

But Yorvit was so good last year

Hurdlelogic.

If Hurdle doesn’t declare Ianetta the regular starting catcher now, he’s the biggest fool managing in the big leagues. We can decide if that’s so as early as tomorrow.

Anyone watching it today?

Whats the weather looking like now? it was only listed under the MLB package in my guide today, I hate when I have a day off and the game isn’t on TV.

Thank god for baseball season.

I'll be curious to see what Hittracker says on that one.

Iannetta’s and Helton’s looked like the wind helped a bit, that one was just a smash.

apparently the wind is blowing out today….thank god Cook is pitching.
