Okay...
Hopefully we can get ahead early and make this easy on our pitchers. Let’s get, say, 9 runs in the early innings so that we can just coast to an easy W. Infallible plan.
Let's see May end with a W.

I love lead off hitters who average 1.2 pitches seen per AB.
That’s a made up stat, but I’m sure its not far off.
Hey!
The Dbacks are slumping…JUpton is careening back towards .200…that’s good, right?
yes it's good
but is it too little too late?

sigh
Lets not give the Cubs another “best in 20 years” victory today, mmk?
Did anyone read that Tulo interview?
I think this team misses him in a big way
Smith stumbled
over the bullpen mound. At least he isn’t injured.

Ryan Dempster
brings the game closer. Why can’t our pitchers (outside of Cook) do that?

The future looking bad again...
Stewart and Iannetta with back to back K’s. Come on guys, Hurdle will bench you for the next month for that.
Hurdle wouldn't do that
but a good manager would

For one K each?
After they’ve hit like they have this week? I think I’m afraid to see what your idea of a good manager is.
perhaps I should just say
that Hurdle doesn’t know when to bench a player (Torrealba, Baker, Taveras)

So FSN just listed off a bunch of championships and such.
Like DU, CU, Outlaws, Crush, Rockies, Broncos and such…
Yet right in the middle…UTAH JAZZ

WHY WHY WHY
can’t we get good pitching?

I like his bat...
He’s one of the better guys I’ve seen at making contact, and figures to be ideally suited for #2 in the lineup. I just wish he’d be a little less aggressive. We’ve got enough of those first pitch hacking types already.
Wow
I never thought as I rockies fan I would start to think other parks are ridiculous offensively…
not even
Citizens Bank Park in Philly?

I liked it better earlier in the week when he was going for a cycle.

should not be in there. He is starting to tire.

More of the same from our starters.
Time for the bullpen to keep this close.

Ok wow.
Hurdle wants us to lose.
Pulls Spilly (prolly injury), Baker (hot lately), Smith,
put Pods, Sully, Herarra in.
Plus the guy who got scratched for todays start…...is now pitching.
GREAT!
I don't know if it matters much at this point...
We could probably put in the AL All-Star team and still find a way to lose.

Anyone else want to see Helton bat leadoff?
Because stolen bases only matter when someone gets on base….
We are getting three hit today?
That’s not very good
my wife
just asked my why it seems like the Rockies aren’t winning very many games this year. Last year was the first time she ever paid attention to the team, so she thinks we’ve always been good. I didn’t really know what to say.
This season has been like a game of atari missile command:
It only has one ending: the flashing words THE END accompanying the inevitable destruction. Yes, you could somewhat postpone this, but it was going to happen. The question was not whether you’d fail, but how much time would pass until you fail.

herrera, quintanilla, and podsednik. Gotta love that Hurdlelogic. And Lee with the bases loaded joy.

That lineup would strike fear for most opposing managers.
I mean, fear that those were the only players they had to work with. Their probably chomping at the bit to pitch to them.
At least we still have
THE GAS CAN! Grilli has had a few slipups, but still is one of the better aspects of this team currently/

I agree,
He was barely out of the “positive contributor” category according to the numbers when I did my post this morning, and that sort of surprised me because I couldn’t recall a really poor outing for him like I can with most of our other relievers. We take small victories where we can find them this year.
Fukudome
with a nice catch.

You know I am kind of in the blow the team up mode
or at least trade Holliday or Atkins….But jeez some of these replacements are going to have their work cut out to match the traded production.
Yay, Pods!

Remember when we won that game, that one time...
And like we were ahead of the opponent at the end? More runs? I’m sure it happened… I mean, I think I remember being happy with this team once. Maybe I’m just making that up. That’s it. I probably just dreamed about being happy with this team once.
Maybe its time to do what MetsGeek did
And rename the site RaysRow.
That Longoria is quite a player…Why won’t stupid (looks up GM’s name) call up Price yet?
We may be hearing about new negative records all summer...
at the rate this season is going.
Forget about Hurdle being fired....
at least until after the All-Star break. No way the ownership would be for embarrassing the franchise and Hurdle before the honor due him as manager of the NL in the All-Star game. After that honor, though, all bets are off, or at least I hope so.
Hurdle
should do the honorable thing and step down and quit embarrassing himself and the Rockies.
by DieHardRox on May 31, 2008 2:04 PM MDT up reply actions
Fat chance....
of that happening, though I wouldn’t complain!
Hurdle the reigning NL Champion manager
a genius in his own mind. He isn’t leaving unless pushed.
The 2008 Rockies: All loses, all season
Hurdle
may be smart in a lot of areas but baseball isn’t one of them.
by DieHardRox on May 31, 2008 2:11 PM MDT up reply actions
Another close game we could have won...
but Hurdle kept Rusch in there too long. Of course he had to stick to the maximum pitches he could use him for. Didn’t matter how many runs he allowed. Because of course we couldn’t use Grilli earlier andfor more time since he struck out derek lee and use someone who actually pitches well. HURDLE DOESN’T WANT TO WIN!!!Offense could have been better in situations that’s true for sure, but he always has to leave pitchers in for their maximum pitches! We have lost 11 straight road games, 18 of the last 20 roadgames and 15 of 20 overall! But we don’t want to change a thing, except the lineup. Maybe he could think about pulling his pitchers more quickly, doing whatever it takes to get A WIN!

Taveras cost us this game....
not just with his lame final AB when he failed to lift the bat off his shoulders. Earlier, he misplayed a flyball into a double that should have been caught, which cost us a run in that inning. When do we dispose of this worthless excuse for a player?
The Pods HR
actually depressed me. Because it meant I was gonna see Taveras go up against Marmol. Waste of time.
6/28/2005 “I went out and tried (to talk to Buddy Bell) twice, but I got his back. That was it. He obviously overrates how much power I have.” Clint “Rube” Hurdle commenting on his former boss’ refusal to talk to him during a recent visit to Denver. Hurdle admits trying to get Buddy fired after Bell let him keep his job, but thinks it was OK because he didn’t make the actual decision to fire him. One can only hope that he finds out someday how Buddy felt from first-hand experience.
