I was actually thinking

way to get Hurdle’s attention, Chris.

A productive out might do a better job than a walk.

by Rox Girl on May 4, 2008 1:35 PM MDT up reply actions

RBI

That is the important part.

Better a walk than an unproductive out but better a sac fly than a walk in that position.

by MADness on May 4, 2008 1:35 PM MDT up reply actions

I was just saying that from Hurdle's vantage point,

taking that ball deep enough the other way to score the run is going to get Chris brownie points that another BB might not necessarily have done, even if it would have been the preferred outcome.

Hi guys

Despite the score thus far, I just wanted to check in to say that I am digging these Sunday afternoon TV announcers for the Rox. Its a pleasure to hear another NL West broadcast who are knowledgable, insightful, and such a difference from the other “Homers” who do television commentary in our division. This is soooo much better than having to hear Mark Grant, Mark Grace, or those tools from the Gints broadcast.

Best of luck to the Rox this season, and here’s wishing the rest of the team gets healthy soon!

Paul Lo Duca is MLB's Pablo Escobar..

Different crew

The play by play is the KOA radio guy (who is great) and the color guy is not the primary color guy (who is more abrasive).

by MADness on May 4, 2008 1:47 PM MDT up reply actions

I figured as much

Having the MLB Extra innings package, I’ve watched the Friday & Saturday night Rockies broadcast as well. Those were both enjoyable and not too over the top like the Madres, Gints, or Backs broadcasts can be. However, this Sunday television broadcast team is exceptional. Thanks for letting me drop by with my $0.02!!!

I guess the grass is always greener

but I’d trade Frazier and Huson for the Giants’ Mike Krukow in a nanosecond. I can’t listen to Grace, the ultimate homer, but find Grant occasionally funny and Krukow is among the best.

the guy has an obp of .500 and he is good defensivly with a good arm. other day he ripped a triple to the oppsite field, in a clutch part of the game. taveras cant even ground out the oppsite field. pods led off with a great ab, stole a base, and then scored. drove in runs later. when has taveras ever had a good game like that EVER? pods should play every day.

say what you will

pods is swinging better than taveras right now…. i would wager later too., taveras takes horrible routes to balls, like last night, he over ran that second dive, could of cut it off sooner and caough it with out a dive, pods is better he has a 500 obp how can you complain.

History, reality, sanity?

Other than that, I can’t think of any argument against your assertion.

The team may complain

I’m sure they would rather not see a grown man cry again if he isn’t starting and that might just happen if Willy T is sitting on the bench.

You’re right though, the team is responding to Pods. Right now he seems to get more hits in crucial situations than Taveras does. We all know when the season is over Willy will probably have much better stats than Scott, but the team is better right now with Pods in the lineup.

thank you

pods is a grinder…. ill bet you anything the chisox dont win the world series in 2005 with out pods. granted this is 3 years later but he has had 2 injury seasons. but he is an all star caliber player, he has a career 340 obp. he has stolen more than 40 bases 5 times in a season. he has some pop in his bat averagin about 28 doubles a season. he walks about 55 times a year too. and i swear he has a better arm and is better defensivly. the guy is healthy play him.

taveras is a career .338 obp which is close to pods granted. only at about 13 doubles a season and NEVER stole more than 34 bases in a season. he only walks about 25 times a year. he takes horrible routes to balls ( he can make up for it with his speed, but it does bite im in the rear sometimes). and a ok arm…. taveras would be an awesome bench guy to PR or lay a bunt down when you need it. to me right now especially its clear pods should start . dont tell me taveras has better history than pods. these stats tell me pods should start. pods has been hurt the last 2 years
