Bah

RBI singles to the opposing pitcher, on the other hand, are not a good thing.

by Rox Girl on Jun 12, 2008 1:32 PM MDT reply actions

Better than

1-2 hanging breaking balls to leadoff hitters….GR is going to break his neck watching balls land in the seats before too long here.

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 1:34 PM MDT up reply actions

Reynolds give up homers in his sleep...

When he’s shopping for groceries, out at the clubs, it’s what he does. Gives up the long ball, 24/7. That’s just how he rolls, Holmes.

Urgh… I don’t really like being wrong. I especially hate it when I’m wrong and stuff like this is the result. Get him back to the Springs.

by Rox Girl on Jun 12, 2008 1:37 PM MDT up reply actions

Well

He has to just lock it down now. Did they say he has one strikeout in his last 3 starts? Come on, man. Too bad he never gets to face us.

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 1:43 PM MDT up reply actions

How about

an old-school Coors game with some runs here, fellas?

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 1:34 PM MDT reply actions

At least Yorvit came through there.

We got a couple of them back. No more longballs, Greg.

by Rox Girl on Jun 12, 2008 1:42 PM MDT reply actions

Yorvit

suddenly on the clutch-train. I only got to watch the last few innings last night and I about died when Atkins didn’t go on the Baker flyball, thinking that with our rotten luck, that would certainly be the last chance to score. Nice to see Yorvit make the play, and nice to see the Rox survive a missed opportunity.

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 1:44 PM MDT up reply actions

Wow

crickets chirping around here. nobody wants to be a part of our historic first series sweep?

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 1:47 PM MDT reply actions

Not the way it's going...

Giants batting .500 off Greg so far today.

by Rox Girl on Jun 12, 2008 1:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah

Nothing like a little batting practice on a nice looking Thursday afternoon. Reading the Giants lineup makes me think of the scene in Major League where they’re reviewing the list of spring training invitees…”I’ve never heard of half of these guys…this guy here is dead!”

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 1:52 PM MDT up reply actions

SO Reynolds

how about not looking like you are pitching batting practice…umkay?

HOLY CRAP

He needs an out pitch

Reynolds has as many out pitches as the batting practice pitcher had….none

Apodaca to the mound

Possible comments?

“Dude, you’re supposed to not let them score. Stop it.”

“I wish I had some good advice, but you know I have nothing to say here. So, you know, just take a break for a minute and let’s pretend like we’re saying important things.”

“Seen Indiana Jones yet?”

"You Know where Colorado Springs Sky Sox Stadium is?"

Nice

that last one pretty damn funny. Some others:

“Do you know Kevin Ritz?”

“John Wasdin had the cool “Way Back Wasdin” nickname because he gave up so many bombs…we need a good one for you. “Goodbye Greg?” Let me know if you think of something, I’d like to get this circulated before your next start.”

“Holliday just made $100 off Atkins, betting that you’d give up a bomb before you got a K. Do you want to know what other side bets are going on right now? I don’t think you do.”

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 2:03 PM MDT up reply actions

"I think you are going to end up on the DL with a neck injury from watching those bombs go out"

by Redhawk on Jun 12, 2008 2:06 PM MDT up reply actions

So who is pitching Saturday?

I thought Hirsh would be ready but the paper said Hirsh would get something like 10 total starts before being recalled.

My guess: Mark Redman! Welcome back!

“Nah, man. We’re looking for a good pitcher.”

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 2:14 PM MDT up reply actions

So...

In order for the box score to be nicely symmetrical, we need to score 4 runs this inning. Do we have it in us?

Nice.

I put the game on and Holliday drives in two.

So are the Rockies (or actually the Purple Row)

really thinking that Reynolds should go back down?

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 12, 2008 2:24 PM MDT reply actions

I was of the strong opinion

that he never should have been brought up in the first place. As for now? I have no idea about what the best course is. I will say that he does not appear to me to be ready for this level.

by Teekalong on Jun 12, 2008 2:28 PM MDT up reply actions

Replacement

I think it probably depends on who else there is. Or at least, when Hirsh is ready. I’d rather have Reynolds (even struggling) than have two rotation spots filled with 5th starters, washed-up veterans, starters by committee, etc. Once Hirsh is ready, there are more options.

It's sort of funny at the McCoven,

Whenever the Giants score it’s because of the hitting prowess of Fred Lewis or John Bowker overmatched the suckitude of Greg Reynolds, but whenever the Rockies score it’s because of the ballpark. Of course, these are the same teams that were tied 0-0 after 8 1/2 innings yesterday.

by Rox Girl on Jun 12, 2008 3:05 PM MDT up reply actions

That's

precisely the opinion of every Dodger fan. Of course, looking at Piazza and Karros’ Coors numbers probably justify that view a bit…and didn’t Loney put up 10 RBIs there in one game? I guess its always a tough argument to win.

Now, let’s get a few more Coors-aided runs.

Just got back from the game...

It was only an 8 hour drive roundtrip, so the Giant spanking was worth it. However, the weather was nice and my wife and kids insisted on taking me for Father’s Day. You know you have a good wife when she gets your butt out of bed on a day off to take you to a Rockies game. I thought the hometeam had a couple of chances to win despite the poor pitching by G-Rey, but Stewart couldn’t hit the lefty and Spilly couldn’t take the bat off his shoulder in the 9th (the umpire looked like he was calling an inside strike all game, and the 3rd strike to Spilbourghs looked way inside IMO).

I had fun however, here is a shot of me and my oldest son with my youngest son in the background.

Congratulations to Ken Griffey Jr. on his 600th HR!
