This sounds weird, but I tried mint chocolate chip for the first time a couple of weeks ago (I’m not a junk food guy)... Have to say, it was pretty tasty.

Yeah, very weird. Mint chocolate chip is absolutely my favorite kind of ice cream. I’m generally not a huge ice cream person, but give me Dreyer’s mint chocolate chip and I will go to town. Seriously, for me it’s like I’ve died and gone to heaven.
Alltime favorite ice cream flavor:
Is Fosselman’s (an Alhambra, CA creamery) blueberry. My top five also include Mackinac Island fudge, which I can’t ever find outside Michigan but Denali’s Moose Tracks is an okay substitute for that so that could go as #3. I like Haagen Dazs’ Rum Raisin and I’d probably include Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey as #5.
I take my ice creams very seriously, although I guess right now I’m not going to be technically be eating an ice cream at all, but Madison’s Madigascar Vanilla gelato topped with fresh strawberries.

Is my only weakness with ice cream. Absolute heaven. But you gotta like caramel to really fall for it.

He doesn’t seem to be going to many of his other pitches either. Just sinker up, which can be scary.

but without Iannetta behind the plate, the pitch sequences are more predictable.
Yeah, Yorvit tends to be predictable in his game calling..

My youngest niece
Is majoring in sports management at South Carolina. Her ambition is to be a baseball GM someday. Before you laugh, her knowledge of the game and it’s players (past and present) is beyond my imagining. Plus, she’s a sabermetrics freak. If I’m lucky, she’ll grow up to be the Rockies GM. Trust me, she’d have no patience for the likes of Clint Hurdle.

His defensive RZR has moved from 9th to 5th out of NL 3rd Baseman in the past year. He also leads all 3b’s in plays made and is 2nd in DPs started.

Bottom line, he’s playing above average defense and hitting for a solid average, but that’s really it.
There’s nothing wrong with that, and it isn’t something that should be actively sought to replaced…
But at the same time, this isn’t what you throw 40 million dollars at in an age 28 season.
The problem is that too many think this is a zero sum: If not Atkins than Stewart, if not Stewart than Atkins. That ignores the dozens of third basemen from Double A up across baseball. The Rockies don’t have to settle on either long term, and should make the wisest move on the field and in the budget. Is it or is it not Stewart is up for debate, but I’m pretty sure extending Atkins isn’t the wisest move.
How about his late inning numbers?
.147/.268/.147, just doesn’t get it done when his team needs him most.

The numbers I don't like
are the plummeting walk rate (4.4%, down from 10%), and the sliding ISO (at .164). His peripherals have fallen each year since his breakout two years ago, and at 28, he should be peaking.
