Bucky for All Stars
There was discussion in the Thurs. night game thread about voting Bucky in as an All Star. I said my daughter would like to vote for him 50 times or so. Another poster noted, correctly, that there's no voting for All Star pitchers.
However, last year there WAS a fan vote for 1 pitcher position, the last player added. Seems like 5 were nominated & Roy Oswalt put on the team by fan voting.
Anyone know if that's going to be done this year again or not? If so, voting Bucky in might indeed be possible. My daughter, who lacks a real summer job, would be willing to sit at the computer for hours on end trying to vote him in.
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

bote = vote
Sure wish there was a direct edit feature on sbnation blogs.
There is a bright side to the '08 season.
Barry Bonds & Roger Clemens are out of baseball.
Maybe, maybe not ...
5 players are nominated for the “Final Vote” in each league, not necessarily 5 pitchers. It just happened to be 5 pictchers for each league last year (see link at bottom – third paragraphs in particular). Conceivably, it could be 5 NL hitters on the final vote ballot – or a couple of SPs and a dominant closer.
It kind of depends on how the normal voting shakes out and how the managers fill out the rosters. The rules that each team must have one representative can box the manager into a corner a bit. It’s possible that there are 5 glaring omissions among the hitters, and that those guys would be on the final vote ballot.
Of course, Hurdle decides the final vote ballot, so he could definitely put Bucky on the ballot if he wanted.
