Game #76: Pelfrey vs. Greg Reynolds

New York Mets at Colorado Rockies, Jun 22, 2008 1:05 PM MDT

Big Pelf vs. the G-Rey. Big Pelf has one win in his last four starts, and he got that in what was his worst start over that stretch of starts. He allowed six runs in six innings to those Angels from wherever they hail.

The G-Rey also picked up a win in his lasting outing after allowing one run in six innings. He struck out four and walked none.

The G-Rey should be powerful enough to stop Big Pelf today; however, the G-Rey has been known to malfunction from time to time. But, hey, it's not as if Big Pelf always comes up big on the mound.

Go Rockies!

OT:

Columbia sent me two huge packets of stuff to read and figure out before the fall…it’s extremely overwhelming.

So in between reading it, I’ve been checking MLB.com constantly to see if the Rockies lineup is up yet. Stupid game needs to start sooner.

Yeah, something like that

Pretty much everything can relate to the Rockies. With some imagination.

I suggest

the best partying dorm. You’re not going to remember things like ‘calculus’ or ‘geography’ when you graduate. But you will remember doing that keg stand with the hot guy (or girl) watching.

Then again, you probably care more about your studies than I did (evidenced by the fact that you’re going to a school that likely doesn’t have to work to keep accreditation).

Okay the game can start now.

Random note: reading Amazin’ Avenue, the Mets SBN blog, and McCovey Chronicles whenever these teams play the Rox really shows how ridiculously little anyone knows about the Rockies and Coors Field.

Of course not

We’re not on the East Coast, in the case of the Mets, so why should they know anything about us? In the Giants’ fans case, they can be excused by ignorance. (Hey, they root for the Gnats).

Examples?

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 22, 2008 12:54 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just the whole Coors Field hitting deal

Sure, it is a hitter’s ballpark, but there’s this whole “humidor” thing that everyone either doesn’t know about, doesn’t care, or ignores. And the fact that close games can happen at Coors and people can learn to pitch well there is something that just goes in one ear and out the other.

And in general, the Rockies must suck, so it’s ridiculous whenever they win and/or someone gets a hit and/or our pitcher does well. I guess that’s kind of a true statement, but only we’re allowed to say that, right?

Corpas has pitched well in his first inning lately..

It’s when he gets extended to the second inning that he struggles.

Welcome back Tulo!!

Silver did you get stood up at your senior prom?

Because you remind me of this girl I knew that was stood up for her prom by her boyfriend, and she never would forgive me for it.

Welcome back Tulo!!

by Charlie77 on Jun 22, 2008 3:36 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

What?

That was random, heh. Actually, the answer to that is no, since I didn’t actually HAVE a senior prom.

We are all dead.

We should nominate you for that MTV prom show.

Well

It’s pretty much already a 2-out rally since we’ve got two automatic outs coming to the plate this inning.

If we win this

with Yorvit/PH/Willy coming up against Wagner, I will streak or something.

We are all dead.

The streaking would have been nice too.

I vote

we call this a moral victory and you go streaking anyway.

Anyone else?

by rosenthal on Jun 22, 2008 3:44 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Streaking would be nice but..

losing 2 of 3 to the Mets when the dBacks get swept by the Twins is pathetic.

Don't stop!

This place is a deadzone when you’re gone. Russ keeps mentioning how there’s no Silver, I try and sound intelligent, and mostly there’s just a bunch of crickets chirping.

Even umpires fail sometimes

Bad day for it, though.

There went the “series streak.”

OTOH, Reynolds looked OK. Tulo is back. And D-backs lose.

Cut it to 5 by the AllStar break, and it’ll be OK.

There is a bright side to the '08 season.
Barry Bonds & Roger Clemens are out of baseball.

by maris61 on Jun 22, 2008 3:44 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Reynolds did well

7 innings, 3 runs, 90 pitches is good in my book. Hopefully he keeps making progress. Now, I’m off to read the Giants gameday thread and delight in their misery at failing hardcore to the Royals. Has to happen to someone besides us.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 22, 2008 3:45 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well

The Royals just rallied from deficits of 6-0 and 10-3 against the Giants, with Lincecum on the mound, to hand them a brutal and humiliating loss. Sounds like they’re tuning up for us.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 22, 2008 4:14 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

The Royals

suck. Worse than we do. Like… Really bad. I just hope we don’t have to face Meche.

by rosenthal on Jun 22, 2008 5:26 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Royals

have about the same record as us, but last year, displayed an uncanny knack for causing us pain and misery.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 22, 2008 6:02 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

They suck.

I refuse to believe they don’t suck until they prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they don’t suck.

Like I said: I just hope we don’t face Meche. That guy has the potential to beat almost anybody if he’s on.

by rosenthal on Jun 22, 2008 6:48 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Looks like

Bannister, Greinke, Hochevar…Meche pitched on Saturday and won’t go until Thursday or Friday.
