"Angry Eyes"?

Now you have that old 80s torch song “Hungry Eyes” stuck in my melon. Lame.

Sad effort there, Todd

I’ll be a Helton defendar to the last, but sometimes my man makes it hard…

0-2 HBP

Not the way to start, AC.

Nice job, Cook...

Just make it look accidental.

(Just kidding—I know Cook’s above it all.)

And there’s the A.C. Special.

DP

Sometimes I feel like Cook puts a guy on first just so he can get the DP.

by holly96 on Jun 25, 2008 6:23 PM MDT reply actions

You never know; he may just being doing.

However, eventually it’s going to turn into one of the sundry ways of losing.

back to reality though

Taveras with the no-clutch. 4 hits, one run = reason why we keep losing.

Need another pitcher?

The Astros announced during their game tonight that Shawn Chacon has been suspended indefinitely. No reason given, but after being demoted to the bullpen (he started off nicely this year, but was 0-3 with a 9.00+ ERA in his 3 most recent starts),
he left a meeting with the manager & GM & proclaimed the move “horseshit” in the press.

2 days later, he’s suspended. Shades of Sidney Ponson.

There is a bright side to the '08 season.
Barry Bonds & Roger Clemens are out of baseball.

Right call

Omar was off the bag. This team is resolved to lose. ANd I’m now furious at Hurdle, he needed to go nuts there and get thrown out.

Can we charge

that run to Omar? Good to see our defensive backup infielder has already cost us one run here.

Heh

Cook has to fuming at the mediocre D behind him tonight. Or maybe more accurately, Cook is a mediocre pitcher unless the D behind him is top shelf.

Cook

is getting hit here. Seeing-eye singles will always be his demons, and a few are hurting him now. Though we’d be tied if Omar could see that big white square out there called “2nd base” and/or Atkins could throw the ball with any accuracy.

Cook was mixing up his pitches better earlier in the season...

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 7:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Its pretty incredible, really

Considering by generic stats, our hitting is actually better than our pitching, its a miracle we’ve won as many games as we have.

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 7:45 PM MDT up reply actions

For us to be 6th in the league in batting average and sporting a

94 OPS+ as a team….is pretty pathetic given we play at Coors field.

Swept by the Royals?

Thanks to an anemic offense, pathetic defense, and Cook’s 2nd straight effort to pitch his way off the all-star team, ugh. I’ve been trying not to get too negative, but this is about as bad as it gets.

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 7:57 PM MDT up reply actions

He should be

he wasn’t good, and his defense didn’t help him. Everyone should be pissed, this team is embarassing itself right now.

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 7:57 PM MDT up reply actions

Lack of strikeout pitch

the reason Cook is no ace. How many 2 strike hits in this game? This is what scares me about Reynolds too.

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 7:58 PM MDT up reply actions

And

I don’t want to be taken wrong…I like Cook a lot and he’s been one of the only lights in this otherwise black season. But the team needed him to be on tonight, and he wasn’t. Then again, even if he was, the nancy offense would cost us the win.

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 8:04 PM MDT up reply actions

He was robbed on three seperate batters of a called 3rd strike...

One of those batters he had two pitches that were obviously in the zone called balls.

Welcome back Tulo!!

by Charlie77 on Jun 25, 2008 8:05 PM MDT up reply actions

It ain't

like that never happens. Strikeouts are strikeouts, and he doesn’t get enough of them.

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 8:06 PM MDT up reply actions

I don't think thats being heritical

no one here confuses Cook with a true #1. Its one of the many examples of how this club was poorly assembled and has performed poorly that he is being asked to be the Ace.

The 2008 Rockies: All loses, all season

by moomacher on Jun 25, 2008 8:05 PM MDT up reply actions

Indeed.

He’s the ideal #3, a stretch but probably good enough to be your #2, but if he’s your #1 (and the rest of your staff is filled with #5s or guys performing at that level) how can you expect to be competitive?

by Teekalong on Jun 25, 2008 8:08 PM MDT up reply actions

Are you saying Brandon Webb is a #3?

Aaron Cook has the same stuff as Bandon Webb. You’re calling the two pitchers with the most wins in the National League #3’s. That’s rediculous.

but I don’t recall if that was the end of the long “experiment” or just another failure and Hurdle kept him as the closer.
