Hawpe

back in the lineup tonight

The 2008 Rockies: All loses, all season

by moomacher on Jun 6, 2008 6:56 PM MDT   0 recs

Just about to note that

However, the fact that he went 1-for-11, 4 Ks, on his rehab assignment with the Sky Sox is kind of worrying. We really need him to turn it on, contract or otherwise, if we’re going to continue to justify him seeing playing time over Seth Smith. Then again, it’s not as if actual performance matters more than veteran grittyness in terms of, say, our catcher.

We are all dead.

You realize that

Hawpe would have to go 0-40 for Clint to sit him?

Of course I do

It’s not like we haven’t seen Hurdle’s policies on performance affecting playing time.

It's one thing to have no arm strength

but lately Torrealba’s accuracy has gone in the tank too.

He’s rounding out to be a pretty deplorable defensive catcher…

Why couldn't his suspension

have started already…? Or be longer?

Welcome to Ubaldoville....

....where every single get you to 2nd.

by TulsaDriller on Jun 6, 2008 7:17 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

That was more on Ubaldo

but what I didn’t like is that Yorvit gloved a ball wide near the dirt, instead of shuffling out to keep it in front of him. It didn’t hurt this time, but if it skips away, that runner just turns and heads to third.

It’s not a tremendous request to ask your catcher to go out and block balls.

Very nice scoop by Todd

I just now noticed our lineup

where are the runs supposed to come from?

by David OhNo on Jun 6, 2008 7:22 PM MDT   0 recs

Our Pravda esque announcers

were ripping on Rickie Weeks as a lead off hitter because of his 323 OBP.

Willy T has a 300 OBP

The 2008 Rockies: All loses, all season

Announcers

raving about Yorvit blocking pitches. Obviously they don’t watch the games they broadcast.

by DieHardRox on Jun 6, 2008 7:48 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Outside of one game

Baker hasn’t hit this year.

Hawpe hasn’t looked himself in AAA… or even 08

Herrera and Torrealba are the lesser hitters at their positions, same (maybe) for Willy.

They don’t want Jimenez to win his starts. Seriously, they don’t.

by David OhNo on Jun 6, 2008 7:26 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Jimenez himself

doesn’t always do the best job of helping out.

Complete game for Chacin tonight

3 runs, and get this: 20-1 GO to FO ratio!

He’s absolutely killing the Rockies tonight with those numbers.

by David OhNo on Jun 6, 2008 7:32 PM MDT   0 recs

Damn that Jhoulys Chacin

Seeing as Willy T and Herrera this inning

pretty much guarantees two outs to start off with.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 6, 2008 7:45 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Unfortunately

this happens way too often. As much as I like Willy T’s speed, if he can’t get on base it does us absolutely no good.

by jimmyski on Jun 6, 2008 7:49 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Ubaldo

already has 6 groundouts. That’s a really good sign that he’s not trying to blow everyone away and is actually pitching.

by jimmyski on Jun 6, 2008 7:45 PM MDT   0 recs

The problem with Uball

is that he’s absolutely Jekyll and Hyde—in between games, even in between innings. You just never know which version will show up. Reminds me of a right-handed Oliver Perez.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 6, 2008 7:46 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

That's been

very correct…but even when he does pitch well, we can’t seem to give him any help. He could easily be 3-4 right now instead of 1-6.

by jimmyski on Jun 6, 2008 7:48 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Well...

At least they all worked the count that inning. But runs would be nicer.

(Help, I’m losing my grasp on reality too…)

He should probably punch Ryan Braun

by David OhNo on Jun 6, 2008 8:07 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Maybe I just don't understand

what’s everyone’s favorite lineups when Holliday and Tulo get back?

I like

Barmes
Iannetta

I don't want Tulo back in the 2-hole immediately

He seems to be pressing too much. And Smith is looking worthier of playing time than Hawpe, and of course there’s no way CDI will play.
