back in the lineup tonight

Just about to note that

However, the fact that he went 1-for-11, 4 Ks, on his rehab assignment with the Sky Sox is kind of worrying. We really need him to turn it on, contract or otherwise, if we’re going to continue to justify him seeing playing time over Seth Smith. Then again, it’s not as if actual performance matters more than veteran grittyness in terms of, say, our catcher.

We are all dead.

You realize that

Hawpe would have to go 0-40 for Clint to sit him?

It's one thing to have no arm strength

but lately Torrealba’s accuracy has gone in the tank too.

He’s rounding out to be a pretty deplorable defensive catcher…

Why couldn't his suspension

Welcome to Ubaldoville....

....where every single get you to 2nd.

by TulsaDriller on Jun 6, 2008 7:17 PM MDT up reply actions

That was more on Ubaldo

but what I didn’t like is that Yorvit gloved a ball wide near the dirt, instead of shuffling out to keep it in front of him. It didn’t hurt this time, but if it skips away, that runner just turns and heads to third.

It’s not a tremendous request to ask your catcher to go out and block balls.

by David OhNo on Jun 6, 2008 7:22 PM MDT reply actions

Outside of one game

Baker hasn’t hit this year.

Hawpe hasn’t looked himself in AAA… or even 08

Herrera and Torrealba are the lesser hitters at their positions, same (maybe) for Willy.

They don’t want Jimenez to win his starts. Seriously, they don’t.

Seeing as Willy T and Herrera this inning

pretty much guarantees two outs to start off with.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 6, 2008 7:45 PM MDT up reply actions

Unfortunately

this happens way too often. As much as I like Willy T’s speed, if he can’t get on base it does us absolutely no good.

by jimmyski on Jun 6, 2008 7:49 PM MDT up reply actions

Ubaldo

already has 6 groundouts. That’s a really good sign that he’s not trying to blow everyone away and is actually pitching.

by jimmyski on Jun 6, 2008 7:45 PM MDT reply actions

The problem with Uball

is that he’s absolutely Jekyll and Hyde—in between games, even in between innings. You just never know which version will show up. Reminds me of a right-handed Oliver Perez.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 6, 2008 7:46 PM MDT up reply actions

That's been

very correct…but even when he does pitch well, we can’t seem to give him any help. He could easily be 3-4 right now instead of 1-6.

by jimmyski on Jun 6, 2008 7:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Well...

At least they all worked the count that inning. But runs would be nicer.

I have a great idea

Let’s keep having Yorvit get into fights, and keep getting suspended. He will be of immense use both ways, finally.

I was upset he only got 3 games

Question:

I haven’t really been following stuff today. On TV, I see that Hirsch and the Viz are both in the dugout. Does anybody know when these guys will be activated/pitch?

by dogs on Jun 6, 2008 9:33 PM MDT reply actions

Hirsh needs several more rehab starts

The Viz is coming back on Saturday, God help us.

or does Arias go down?

I’m not sure why the took him 8th last year

that's the 64 thousand dollar

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 6, 2008 9:42 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah well a bunch of other MLB execs think like O Dowd

what 6 relievers went in the first round this year? I don’t get it all, although I suppose its the end result of everyone insanely overvaluing closers.

The 2008 Rockies: All loses, all season

by moomacher on Jun 6, 2008 9:44 PM MDT up reply actions

It's not that at all

there’s no reason for him to pitch in Colorado until later in the second half, if at all this year. He may even be better as a 2009 early call up, to set his arb clock back a year.

It has nothing to do with talent. He’s ready and everybody knows it, but they really need to insure that he gets three full cheap years at least, preferrably when they’re ready to contend again. A Set. call to get his feet wet would probably be best.

If we were winning but struggling a bit to keep pace, he’d already be here.

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 6, 2008 9:49 PM MDT up reply actions

I think

I’m also in 148, but it might be 149, look for the guy w/ the Iannetta t-shirt/jersey, cheap. Nothing like a Tulo bobbleahead to get me to my 1st game of the year. Of course I would have been at Opening Day had I been able to get tickets.

by smokinRox on Jun 6, 2008 10:52 PM MDT up reply actions

Crappy seats....

are why they invented the left field concourse. hang out there with a beer in hand and all is well.

by BroJB on Jun 6, 2008 9:45 PM MDT up reply actions

but it did give me a nice morning head ache this morning

I'm so not

paying attention to the standings (on purpose)

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 6, 2008 9:46 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah

Me too. I just had to look now, and it hurt.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 6, 2008 9:47 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah.

I’m not paying attention to anything anymore, really. I just looked after tonight’s win, and felt instantly deflated. Now I’m just thinking that it would be nice not to be the first team to 40 wins.

by dogs on Jun 6, 2008 9:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Losses

I mean 40 losses, of course.

by dogs on Jun 6, 2008 9:49 PM MDT up reply actions

I am to watch the race to the bottom

winner gets a very nice reward in Strasburg (though the losers don’t walk away empty handed either).

Ultimately, we aren’t bad enough to finish dead last, which is why I’ll be watching tomorrow’s UNC game very closely to see how Alex White profiles on the mound.

by David OhNo on Jun 6, 2008 9:49 PM MDT up reply actions

Oh don't sell this team Long

we are plenty crappy enough to finish last. This spark we got from the Torrealba/Kemp rumble won’t last long. And the Mariners have some pitching talent that can’t be as bad as they have been so far this year

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 6, 2008 9:50 PM MDT up reply actions

Nice one, Tito

Excellent work by Fuentes.

Sweet win. That 8th inning was the first thing this season that reminded me at all of last September.

3 in a row seems like an awfully big run right about now, don’t it?

by BroJB on Jun 6, 2008 9:44 PM MDT reply actions

A great win!

Fun to see an old-time Rockies Rally in the 8th. I’m in with Redhawk, in that I had forgotten what that felt like. Really sweet.

Blame the Red Sox!

by rockhead on Jun 6, 2008 9:45 PM MDT reply actions

Now I figure

the Rockies lose terribly tomorrow to remind me that it’s 2008 and not, in fact, 2007, but dammit, I’ll have fun anyway.

We are all dead.

The great attendance of the purple row...

will continue the win streak and get Greggy his first win tomorrow night! Yes I am now wild with excitement after the big win! Brad is BACK and Garrett did awesome and oh I do love them all! Also happy to be going to the game with Silverblood and Squeaky tomorrow night..can’t forget about those Tulo bobbleheads either!
