thoughts

with a day off tomarrow, we get Iannetta, starting a day game after a night game….Rare for a catcher, and rare for Hurdle to play Iannetta

Lefties must really hit Suppan…cause this is a very heavy lefty line up! man look at those lefties!

Guess the Brewers gave up on the line up of having the pitcher bat 8th ala Larusa with the Cardinals. I was really hoping to see that line up again.

Pods hits Suppan at a .364 clip

which is likely why he’s in there, Spilly probably needs a rest after being the full-time LFer, and be still my heart WHAT? CDI actually got a second straight start? Shocking, shocking. He and Atkins are the only righties in there.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 8, 2008 12:41 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

And actually they don't

Lefties hit .255 off Suppan this year.

We are all dead.

only 2 right handed bats

7 out of 9 are left handed hitters (counting Francis, and I do). So Know Your Lefty Reliever:

51 Shouse, Brian RP L L 5-11 196 9/26/68 Effingham, IL 15

the Brewers have used him as just a LOOGY but also have extended him some, as he’s pitched 2 full innings, 2 of his last 3 appearances

lmao...yep

the guy in the picture behind Shouse is Hawpe from Friday night

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 8, 2008 12:43 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Is that a Dodger rounding the bases off him in this picture?

It looks like a homerun trot in the background.

Hawpe

from Friday Night!

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 8, 2008 12:44 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

I just figured that out...

I was hoping this was more of a trend, but no, they just blurred out the pinstripes.

by Rox Girl on Jun 8, 2008 12:45 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

But....

...how will we have a chance today without Willy T’s .292 OBP?

If the leadoff runner actually gets on base, won’t that just confuse the 2-3-4 hitters?

I’m concerned.

by BroJB on Jun 8, 2008 12:46 PM MDT   0 recs

See

our hitting is so terrible, with runners on….Hurdle is thinking the best way to get guys to hit…is NOT have runners on when they come up

See….Hurdle R Smarte!

So?

does anyone have faith in these guys firing Hurdle some time this year? :

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 8, 2008 12:52 PM MDT   0 recs

Maybe they don't have to fire him

Just give him a new title, like Special Assistant to the GM in charge non-player development.

by Rox Girl on Jun 8, 2008 1:00 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

But Hurdle *loves* developing players....

It would be cruel to deprive him, right? So let’s just have him develop… the D-backs players or something.

We are all dead.

I don’t think you’re capable of pitching well anywhere other than Dodger Stadium.

Let's hope Jeff just gives up 1 or 2

Francis has issues

He doesn’t have enough movement or command to throw as slowly as he does

The Dodgers

must be the only team in baseball that hasn’t caught up to him yet.

by Silverblood on Jun 8, 2008 1:17 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

So

we should trade him to the Dodgers….then he’d get killed by every body!

and wait for a pitch to sit on. Watching Francis this year is pretty excruciating.

Announcers"

“1st inning continues to plague Franics”

Like 2 through 7 have been that good for Jeff

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 8, 2008 1:20 PM MDT   0 recs

Interesting Francis note:

The first batter of the ballgame in his starts has now gotten aboard safely 8 out of 13 times. And the first inning just narrowly beats out the sixth for when he fares the worst.

by Rox Girl on Jun 8, 2008 1:25 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Interesting

I would have thought that 82 MPH fastball could just blow by major league hitters.

by rosenthal on Jun 8, 2008 1:26 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

82?

Nah, that’s the slider. Jeff gets that heat all the way to 87.

with the wind at his back.

And there can’t be flashbulbs because they’ll distract him.

by Rox Girl on Jun 8, 2008 1:28 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

FSN

had him at 85 with the fastball at one point in the inning. My guess is that 85=82.

Apparently he’s crafty because he’s left-handed. God… Our announcers are freaking retarded.

by rosenthal on Jun 8, 2008 1:30 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

85 MPH "heater"

and in the majors + “crafty” OR “Sucky” . Since they can’t call him sucky he must be “crafty”

Silver, how was the energy at last night's game?

Was the crowd into the game? Was the Rockies to Brewers ratio of fans acceptable?

Somebody stole my Rocktober!!

by Charlie77 on Jun 8, 2008 1:39 PM MDT   0 recs

Yeah

The energy was really good, especially after Hawpe jacked it out and Iannetta followed suit. There was some annoying lady in front of me on her cell phone, standing up and waving (!!!) so I barked at her to sit down, which was fun, since I’m not usually a loud person. But I get fired up about sports. I was into the game the whole time of course, cheering for every batter and Reynolds, and very happy to be back. If you ask me, there were a few too many Brewers fans, especially a pair of ditzes waving Brewers logos at Braun from farther down in my section. (We were in 148, LF). Although it was fun when after Braun robbed Atkins of a hit, a few guys stood up and started doing the “Over-rated” chant at him.

We are all dead.

by Silverblood on Jun 8, 2008 1:42 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Good energy

but it died down towards the end/middle innings.

Way too many Brewer fans. In fact at the bars after the game, I was amazed at how many people game out to Denver, for the game and the weekend.

I was thinking about getting tix in left field so my kids can play on the slide, but I love the view from the Club level seats.

I had the crappiest of crappiest seats

but they were free! Section 302. That’s upper, upper deck in Right field, just to the Right of the Rock Pile. Actually not that bad of seats…so long as you don’t want to see Right Field

Colorado Rockies: Continuing a long tradition of playing meaningless games in June!

by Redhawk on Jun 8, 2008 1:56 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

The Vibe was great...

....my seats were awesome, my Hebrew National was snappy, my Tulo Bobdlehead was a’ boblbing, AND the Rockies win! As we all know, it’s all in the sewer pipes – Brad sure made Ron Stilanovich proud.

by TulsaDriller on Jun 8, 2008 1:59 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Two quick outs

then four-pitch walks, will kill you every time. Sheesh, Jeffrey.

I think Clint has to know that Chris is the better hitter.

This is the fifth time CDI is batting sixth in the lineup this season, in 27 starts, while Yorvit’s never hit higher than seventh. I wonder what Hurdles last hangup is.

by Rox Girl on Jun 8, 2008 1:52 PM MDT   0 recs

I just answered this question on my blog

Yorvit has incriminating photos of him.

by Silverblood on Jun 8, 2008 1:54 PM MDT to parent up   0 recs

Does Yorvit even call his own game?

He looks into the dugout a lot when calling pitches. I know Iannetta calls his own game.
