Lineup

Baker is back, that’s good. Though why is Nix in there? I’d rather see Q at one of the infield positions. Oh well. At least we don’t have both Nix and Koshansky.

Well

I’ll be here for most of the game thread, though my participation will be sporadic due to a certain bonus weekend on a particular video game which I am frequenting while watching the Rox game. In short, you won’t have to deal with me too much tonight =p

Ollie gets

the Rockies to go down 1-2-3. Your turn to do that to the Mets, Cook.

All right! Out of the inning!

Now time for the bats to come alive these next few innings. Despite Perez being a lefty, I predict and hope Hawpe will come out of his slump at least somewhat tonight.

I think we will get Perez the second time through, though like Tulo2 said. I know Atty has a homer against him.

Halladay

A-West was my bitter rival, but I knew him growing up through church (I have a signed baseball) so I root for him anyway.

my oldest brother

played against him in high school. I’ve got no love for A-west, but I pull for Halladay b/c of his Colorado roots anyway.

Yep, me too

I still can picture him when he was around 12 or 13, wearing a baseball bat tie to church. Little did anyone know then that he was a future Cy Young winner and likely hall of famer.

NICE

Nix up to bat with bases loaded. Clutch hitting and one of the worst hitters in the Majors. WHAT A COMBINATION.

by A.J. Haefele on Jul 11, 2008 7:43 PM MDT reply actions

Argh

They keep walking our best hitters, and then the next guy gets out anyway. I’d would rather Hawpe have tried to get a hit it there, even if it ends up being an out, rather than take a walk and leave it to Nix.

by holly96 on Jul 11, 2008 7:43 PM MDT reply actions

See

I knew that would happen. The Mets might as well have intentionally walked Hawpe.

Never say never...

just one of those guys gets on and we can get to holliday in the lineup. He hurt Wagner before and can do it again.

So, the

last two games Aaron Cook pitched at Shea ended up 2-1 victories for the Mets. And Damion Easley had a homer in each one.

Complete, Massive, and Epic FAIL

Pitiful. We have to win 2 straight now to salvage the road trip. My guess is that it don’t happen.

After that crappy Rockies game....

...maybe we can follow Chacin for the rest of the evening as a pick-me-up in his third start for Modesto. Perfect 1st inning for the kid.—road game at San Bernardino..

Or Chaz Roe

who just completed a complete game shutout in 106 pitches, striking out seven, walking one.

Roe has been pretty good in AA. He’s only had one bad outing, one below average one, several good, and now one outstanding one. I’d like to see more K’s, but he’s orking deep into games with pitch efficiency, so i can’t complain too much.
