Rockies Trade Juan Castro
We traded Minor-League Shortstop Juan Castro to the Orioles last night for Mike McCoy. Castro was .300 in 18 games with Colorado Springs. McCoy was batting .277 in 52 games with AAA and has played 2B, 3B, SS, OF, and P during his time in the minors. Don't know really what to think of this trade as it seems we are just swapping decent prospects?
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

He's 36
Castro, at 36 wasn’t really a prospect. He was a player in decline.

He was also promised
a big league shot by the Rockies as a veteran journeyman back up Utility infielder when the Rockies signed him about a month ago, when we had all those injuries. This is more of giving a guy a shot with an organization that maybe could use him, for a career minor leaguer that doesn’t have that expectation.
The real surprise is this trade was made at all. Usually a guy like Castro would be given his release, so he could go find a job on his own.
Thought Clint Hurdle should be fired before it was cool.

McCoy is 27, so at least we traded down 9 years.
