Pitching Rotation...
Bronson Arroyo, Aaron Cook, Jeff Francis, Ubaldo Jimenez and Glendon Rusch....seems like a decent rotation in the playoffs if we trade for Bronson. However, Bronson is more of wild card than the other four pitchers. Even if we don't trade for him, the Rockies are in great shape pitching wise in AAA. What do you guys think?
FYI, I post few and far between....

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

(LONG) While I think Francis will pitch better when he returns...
I can’t help but think that eventually, Glendon Rusch is going to return to Glendon Rusch.
And you have to remember – we have to win the division first to get to the playoffs and while the NL West has been absolutely horrific, everyone else around us will get healthy just like we are starting to, and a couple of them are making trades to get better NOW, which is something I can guarantee you we will not do.
Let’s compare this year to last year:
Glendon Rusch = Josh Fogg from last year (at least for right now)
Aaron Cook = Jeff Francis from last year
Ubaldo Jimenez = himself
Jeff Francis = hopefully Morales from last year
? = Aaron Cook/Mark Redman/several others from last year
The question is, who is that question mark? It certainly is NOT Kip Wells – he needs to be DFA’d and quick, in my opinon. When you said we have help in AAA, I respectfully disagree. Morales can’t get anybody out, Hirsh is walking the universe, Towers is garbage, and Sean Smith is not ready. Maybe Valerio De Los Santos? Maybe JDLR if he can show any form of consistency (although I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I like him out of the pen)? I just don’t know. And, I don’t know of anyone on the open trade market that can come in and help us right now.
Either way, if we don’t stop dropping balls to the D-Backs (who apparently were pretty pissed off at us for celebrating in front of them on opening weekend, judging by the gigantic bitch slap they’ve brought down on us the first three series of the year), we have no shot at the playoffs anyway. Face it, we’ve been pwned on the road and in our own division, and that has to change before we can start talking post-season.
So – any ideas for a fifth starter?

O'Dowd has to make a trade next week....
This assumes that we have a good weekend series. If we get swept, we’ll be in sale mode all over again. If we are able to take two of three, I would be shocked if we do not make a trade to add a starter. We have Morales, Seth Smith and Joe Koshansky to offer someone, and could throw Matteus in as well if needed. I know they will take on a huge salary in return, but there are options like Ian Snell, Tim Redding, etc. Those guys would be major upgrades to the back end of our rotation and they’ll eat innings, and are very affordable.
