Machine's innings to be throttled
Jhoulys Chacin with his combined 15-1 season record goes again for Modesto this evening in a 6:05p.m. PDT start.
Irv Moss of the Denver Post footnotes this morning…
(Rockies’ director of player development ) Gustafson said Chacin has thrown 143 1/3 innings and might be kept on restricted innings for the rest of this season. . . .
Not exactly sure if this has any bearing on Chacin moving up to AA Tulsa anytime soon.
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff.

Sounds like a responsible plan to me
Let’s not wear the young’un out. As to how it affects his move to Tulsa, I don’t know.
Put me out of my misery. Please!

Hiccup
Chacin leaves with the bases loaded after 4.1 innings pitched, all three runners come in to score off the Modesto reliever…runs charged to Chacin, so no win for him tonight. 4-2 San Jose after 6.
Maybe 20-yr old Chacin is getting a little tired as management has intimated. He still leads all of pro baseball to my knowledge with a remarkable 15 wins so far this season.

Chacin
It actually doesn’t look like he pitched a bad game. 8 ground-ball outs, no fly-balls. Even in the 5th, he gave up 2 hits on grounders and a walk, then got a K before being pulled. It doesn’t look like he was hit hard at all, the pitch count just caught up to him.

Anyone know what type of fastball
Billings has? I know he threw mostly fastballs in the no-hitter, but I thought I heard his fastball was not much to get excited about, upper 80’s, maybe low 90’s on occasion. I’m also wondering if they are interested in moving Billings, what would the thoughts be on Graham, he seems like a prime candidate to move as well.
I’m happy to hear about Miller, I think he has deserved to move for awhile, even over Frey. Probably even over Barker he should be in AAA. I hope to see that happen, and I hadn’t heard about Smith to the olympics. Doesn’t Smith need to be in AAA for that?

If you can get the draft index to work
you can actually watch Billings draft video at mlb.com. Fastball is average on the video, 88-92 with average arm side life but no real sink. As a late round pick, he’s already a success and an asset, but as far as being a big prospect, i think he comes up short.
Graham is a more serious prospect, and probably a borderline top ten Purp. The stuff is real, with BA having him clocked at 98 mph last season, and he’s done well with K’s this season.
Graham is the guy you promote first, since he’s more likely to factor long term in the organization, and that should come soon, in hopes that he won’t wait to reach AA until he’s 24.
