De Los Santos to Start; Speier Down
The article states that the Rockies were looking into trades over the weekend and may use De Los Santos a second time if he pitches well.

This could be interesting
I’d rather see Hirsh, but since this looks to only be a one start thing, it wouldn’t make sense to bring him up and send him right back down. When Hirsh comes back, it should be for good.
I wonder how many times it is that we’ve sent down Speier this season? Is there a limit, or can it be done as many times as the Rockies wish withouit penalty?

As we discussed earlier in the season
when Troy Renck sort of took a shot at Rox Girl for incorrectly stating that Morillo had no options left and as the article states, as long as a player has an option remaining he can be sent back and forth between the majors without going through waivers as many times as a team wants in a season. It’s Speier’s third time.

God help us
If the Rockies bats cool off tonight.
Of course, last year they had a bullpen start in Philly and they won something like 12-1, so maybe this is a good omen. I’m really looking for a positive here.

Here's your positive
With us likely having to use the bullpen extensively tonight, look for Kip Wells to throw three or four innings and not be available again until Friday. That has to be at least marginally positive.

And in other news....
A sweep of Pittsburgh would be sweet, because the Florida series just got tougher. Anibal Sanches is making his comeback start on Thursday against the Rox. Hopefully, he’ll be so pumped up he overthrows the hell out of the ball. I guess the motto is, “if you can’t join them, pitch against them”.
