Helton lands on the DL; Koshansky called up.
How many players have we placed on the DL this season?

A couple of thoughts regarding the DL
Thought #1: The DL trip for Francis was AWESOME. “Shoulder Inflammation” = he needs to take a couple of starts off, watch, and then get a couple of confidence-boosting rehab starts in AAA. Take a look at Hawpe. He was struggling mightily until he landed on the DL with whatever it was, and then came back and started punting the ball over the fence. But based on his recent performances, I do believe he might need another DL trip and give Smith some more MLB time. His numbers don’t look great, but Smith was still totally clutch.
Thought #2: Helton’s back is really becoming a serious issue. The downside: We lose an awesome glove at 1B, and a .380+ OBP guy in the 2 hole. The upside: We get to keep Baker AND Barmes in the lineup, who have the hotter bats right now.

Agreed
totally on both points.
Our Highest paid player gets hurt, and I think, “We just got better offensively” is kinda scary. I know this is looking down the road a bit, and Helton doesn’t seem the player to do it, but if he were to not be able to play for a full year, than I would guess the Rockies have an insurance policy on his contract. It may be the Rockies only out on Helton’s contract.
I miss baseball. Can we fire Clint Hurdle and Dan O'Dowd now?
