Cook isn’t exactly a model of durability, so leaving him in to purposely throw over 100 pitches in a year with stacked odds may not be the most forward thinking approach.

Some good news
Fowler homered from both sides of the plate today.
I went and watched him this week, and he doesn’t look like the same raw player I saw early this year. His hitting approach is pretty polished, and though his swing isn’t the prettiest, he produces line drives with it quite well, and it should play at the upper levels. He and Chacin share the crown as our top prospects.
Oh, and those that worry about Weathers haven’t seen him pitch recently. He’s dominating with the fastball, and though he doesn’t need to in most outings, he still flashes a plus plus slider. He’s not here in Tulsa because he’s not ready, that I can tell you.
What's the holdup
for Weathers, then? Have to believe he’d be better than some of the schmucks we have in the pen now.
How long will Fowler be in Tulsa?
Typical cautious approach by Colorado
plus some likely concerns over abitration clocks. Weathers has some command issues, but nothing that’s alarming or a barrier to big league success.
As for Fowler, hard to say. I’d like to see some aggression to have him ready for opening day of ‘09, as he’s having a similar if not better season in Tulsa to Troy’s Double A year, where he was moved up a bit before September.

Well, today ain't good
but to be honest, finishing 5-2 on the home stand ain’t all bad. Especially considering the heroics it took to win a couple of those 5.

3 of 4 from the Fish isn’t bad, since we had to fight them tooth and nail to get there, but the sweep with Cook on the mound would have been really nice. And now we have to try to win a game on the road with the ever-present threat of total garbage in the bullpen.
